So, when coming home from getting the dress for the photos for this week,Ā āWelcome to the Black Paradeā started playing and I started to tear up...not because itās an emoĀ ātriggerā and how I would never see them/get to experience a new music release, etc...but because I WILL BE seeing them.Ā
I struggled HARD with being honest about who I was when I was younger so I never got to experience what other emos got to experience.Ā I knew who MCR was because I was just on theĀ āoutskirtsā of the scene, but I was more focused on pop music and Britney, etc and I always thought that I couldnāt be both - I had to pick one side or another.Ā It was just like drawing a line in the sand with Backstreet Boys and NSync...you had to be one or the other, thatās how I felt - I couldnāt love Britney AND love MCR.Ā Ā
I loved FOB at the time, but I honestly kept that as a secret and pretended to HATE Pete Wentz (SHOCKING REVELATION).Ā I was honestly trying to fit into this random mold/hole that I thought I had to be in based on some fucked up internal thoughts and the world
I hadnāt heard of Pastel Goth during this time and I felt like I didnāt fit in with the goth look so I was floundering and failing in being me in all aspects.Ā
I started to tear up and cry because I will be seeing a band that influenced a whole generation of people, but who even in my 30s has influenced/told me that itās ok to be me in all aspects.Ā Ā
You are never too old to be your true self.
