TL;DR Version: The new Diablo Dare sandwich from @Arbys is every bit as hot as advertised, tastes great, and has solid macros. Sadly, it’s only available until 2/6/22. Full Review: When I found out Arby’s introduced a a new sandwich so spicy that it comes with a snack size vanilla shake, I went straight to the only location in town... and found it closed. It turns out they don’t have enough managers to operate so they’re barely open during the day and my location was also running out of the sauce so the sandwich was going to be discontinued a week and a half early. Luckily, I managed to get my hands on one before the chance was gone. And I’m so glad I did. The Diablo Dare comes in either brisket or chicken, topped with: ghost pepper jack cheese; diced fire-roasted jalapeños; a mixture of habanero powder, cayenne red peppers, and capsicum; barbecue sauce made from a combination of chipotle peppers, cayenne pepper, habanero peppers, and chili pepper; pickles; and shredded lettuce. Even the bun on this thing is angry. It’s shockingly red in color with chipotle flakes baked right into it. True to the marketing, it also came with the tiny vanilla shake. The corresponding TikTok challenge is to see how much you can eat before you need to go for the shake. While I’m not putting anything on TikTok, I did decide I was going to see if I could finish the entire sandwich before drinking the shake. Happy to report that I made it through the whole sandwich, but my eyes were watering and my sinuses cleared while I ate it. Also, turns out the vanilla shake did not put out my mouth fire when I finally drank it. The sandwich is legitimately hot and I’m hard pressed to think of something spicier in fast food. The only thing that comes to mind is the spicy chicken sandwich and nuggets at PDQ, but this is definitely hotter. The brisket version will set you back 573 calories, 30g fat, 42g carbs, and 32g protein. I would eat this regularly if it stayed on the menu, but sadly it will be gone after 2/6/22 (or sooner if they run out of the sauce).
