Theme: How addicted people are to their handheld devices.
Design: The photographer physically removes the devices, which made the people in the photos look like living in their own world. The mundane scenes become horrible.
Color: Black and white add more silence to the photos, reminding us of the extremely quiet situation that everyone focused on their own mobile phones or tablets we all once in.
Discussion: The photographer chose daily things and captured them. It is not surprised to find that every moment our handheld devices company us. We have seen many photos illustrated something like we are physically close but no actual communication with our parents, husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend, friends and so on. But when the handheld devices are removed from people’s hands, much stronger feeling appears. It helps us pay more attention to the other things in the photos, pushes us to think about what they will do without these devices as well. Are online lives more exciting than real ones?
