3.1 Context
Why is context important?
Knowing the context of a visual text enables the viewer to make broader connections, and have a strong understanding of what is being conveyed to them. Without knowing the context of the work, to critically think about the text is difficult in the way that it’s completely one’s own, unguided, interpretation, which will typically lead to confusion and misunderstanding of what is seen - or, in some scenarios, it can be blatantly ignored.
