There is a fucking weed that has taken over the family yard, both front and back, and I cannot find what the hell it is for the life of me!
It’s a ground cover weed plant. Small purple flowers are peppered in with the plant. The most identifying thing are what I think are the seed pods. They look like edward scissors hands. They have a small bulb at the base closest to the stem with a long, non cloth catching (I touched it and it didn’t feel like it was snagging onto my fingers like Foxtail does) , singular spike.
Does anyone know what the heck this is? I’m planning tomorrow morning to go after the newly found out Bur Clover with weed killer before they start making the damn tiny spiked seeds that love to stick to the bottom of our shoes. Need to make sure just what happens to the unknown plant if it suddenly shrivels up and dies.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what this is, but it's everywhere. Weed identification is much harder than plant identification - I don't know the words to use to describe these. Any ideas? Zone 8a, clay soil, grows like crazy with shallow roots in the mulch/dirt mixture on top of some weed fabric in the garden bed.
