Top 5 purple things?
ooh yay my favorite color!
well, orange and purple are my faves - and they're opposites! so i have to say daphne blake is my girl bc she is the og of that combo (to me)
Another girl who wore purple that inspired me as a child was Pasha from Wee Sing In Sillyville and if I ever were to be a Person Who Only Wears One Color, it would be purple like her
Plums, a classic, love me a good summer plum. so here are a lot of plum things from tumblr that i love
Plums, excerpt from Cherry by Mary Karr
Stepped on a Plum (overripe plum) by tumblr user utopians
He just batted off two plums! (unknown original poster, links to image-descrptions.tumblr.com in alt)

the name of this movie reminded me of a series of cursed musical VHS tapes i would watch when i was little because of a song on the tape so i tried to find it and after seeing the video again i can see how i wound up getting into horror... π i've unlocked some childhood memories that i could have preferably lived without and i don't know how to feel
The ways in which two different preschool VHS series from the 80s and 90s handled the song "Little Bunny Foo Foo" ("...hoppin' through the forest, scoopin' up the field mice and boppin' 'em on the head...β):
Wee Sing (the sixth video of the series, Wee Sing in the Big Rock Candy Mountains)
Little Bunny Foo Foo and the mice are friends. He smacks them on the head when he gets frustrated that they won't play what he wants to play, like a small child losing his temper and hitting another child. When the Good Fairy turns him into a "goon," she turns him into a funny-looking purple polka-dotted creature. But after he apologizes to the mice and promises to be a better friend from now on, she ends his punishment and turns him back into a bunny.
Barney (the very first video in the franchise, The Backyard Show)
Little Bunny Foo Foo sneaks up on the mice from behind and sadistically hits them with a mallet, knocking them unconscious. When the Good Fairy turns him into a "goon," she apparently uses the definition of "goon" as "a stupid person," because Bunny Foo Foo's appearance doesn't change, but he sticks out his tongue and lolls his head back and forth. So apparently, as punishment for his sadism, the Good Fairy gives him a magical lobotomy and permanently destroys his mind. And it's all played for laughs.
Somehow, of those two different approaches to the song, I wasn't expecting Barney to take the second one.
'80s/'90s nostalgia poll: best "Wee Sing" video
Wee Sing Together (1985)
King Cole's Party (1987)
Grandpa's Magical Toys (1988)
Wee Sing in Sillyville (1989)
The Best Christmas Ever! (1990)
Wee Sing in the Big Rock Candy Mountains (1991)
Wee Sing in the Marvelous Musical Mansion (1992)
The Wee Sing Train (1993)
Wee Sing Under the Sea (1994)
Wee Singdom (1996)
As a '90s child, I grew up with the Wee Sing videos from toddlerhood through first grade, and I adored them. Recently I've revisited them on YouTube, and they still make me smile.
So for fellow childhood fans of the series: which installment was, or is, your favorite?
For me, it's a tossup between Wee Sing in Sillyville and Marvelous Musical Mansion, but I think I give the slight edge to the latter. Though maybe I would have felt differently when I was little: Marvelous Musical Mansion might be slightly more enjoyable for adults, because it's aimed at slightly older kids than most of the other, more preschool-geared installments, with lessons in music theory and different musical genres, as well as more of an actual plot, rather than songs just loosely strung together.
Incidentally, I only just learned that Wee Sing Together β which revolves around stuffed animals coming to life to give a little girl a magical birthday party β inspired the creation of Barney. Whether that's a good legacy or a bad one is obviously a matter of taste.
