The Deep & Meaningful...
Make us fall in love with your brand! With plenty creative fish in the sea, tell us what makes you special? Bella’s is special because I love to make cakes that are a bit different. I’m always experimenting with flavour, design, and above all I love butter and icing sugar, so if you are looking for a buttercream cake you have come to the right place.
Step back in time! Which 20th century vintage era do you visit? And why? The 1950’s. I love the style from that era. I wish I could get away with wearing dresses everyday! But my day to day outfit consists of yoga trousers or jeans, t-shirts, and trainers. Comfortable, but gets pretty boring!
Share your all time favourite love story? One of my all time favourite love stories would have to be how my Mom and Dad first met. They met in California at a cocktail party and the woman that introduced them to each other was named Sydney. I am named after her. When my Dad proposed to my Mom they were in a shop looking at rings. She was saying how she like this one and that one, and he then took out his grandmother’s engagement ring and asked “What about this one?” He had been carrying the ring around in his pocket all that time and was just waiting for the right time!
Tell us a personal story about following your heart or making a big commitment? A big commitment for me would be moving to Glasgow, Scotland from Maine, USA! It was a big change moving country, but I have been able to accomplish so many things here, such as starting Bella’s Cakes!
Inspire us! Can you share any exciting trends or precious tips to help with wedding planning? At the last few fairs I have attended I have talked to many couples who are looking for wedding cakes that aren’t the traditional style wedding cake or cakes. Many couples have expressed that they want either a naked cake or buttercream cakes rather than a fondant iced cake or cakes. I love this though, as I am a big fan of naked cakes and buttercream. For cakes in 2016, I am still seeing naked cakes as a big trend and also more couples asking for smaller cutting cakes and then a mix of desserts to accompany them. A really fun wedding I am catering for this year has asked for a small cutting cake and donuts!
Leave us a love note – your favourite piece of romantic, relationship wisdom.... “I think careful cooking is love, don’t you? The loveliest thing you can cook for someone who’s close to you is about as nice a Valentine as you can give” Julia Child
