Mozilla Firefox Ad/Tracking PSA
Hi everyone!
Mozilla is rolling out a new feature that is turned on by default, which they call Privacy Preserving Attribution, as discussed here:
Firefox 128 introduces privacy-preserving attribution, allowing advertisers to measure campaign performance while protecting user privacy.
You can easily turn it off, though.
Firefox + uBlock Origin and a good filter set are still the best combo around for keeping your ad/JS attack surface down to a minimum for everyday browsing.

Got a random add for a âfantasyâ game on Facebook, and it was a perfect opportunity to whip out the old Bingo chart! Dear gods, what a messâŚ
What I love most about this is it seems the parent companies basically make the same game with the same over the top, hypersexualized female fantasy characters, sometimes with the token dude in them:
Though it seems currently theyâre advertising that they are great for mobile platforms... to play in the office? Canât see any way that could go wrong!
But there is ONE exception in their portfolio:
The companyâs flagship property, Wartune, has a long history with @eschergirls as well as with Bikini Armor Battle Damage.
Clearly they are dedicated to continuing to be the cutting edge of terrible designs... and now warship battle games? Why? What is going on with them?

The designs used in Windscarâs advertisement are an absolute travesty. Like, Iâm pretty sure she needs more than a chiropractor with her back bent like thatÂ
Wow, good find for BABD and for @eschergirls! The closest to this contorted promo pic I found from this game was this:Â
And generally WindScar seems to be very satisfied with looking like every other generically boobastic shit in our web ads tag.

What I find amusing about these designs is they are made by an Chinese company - but thereâs almost no link to Chinese fashions, clothing, designs, etc.
These are basically Chinese artists looking at how Western artists have tried to imagine these costumes, then trying to make them kind of like the weird western fantasy designs they see in western video games.
Thus creating a cycle of terrible where some guy in a western company is now going to look at these and go try to outdo them....
*sigh*

This is false advertising, she doesnât even have anything resembling pants!
- wincenworksÂ
A cringy game web ad utilizing a Thermian Argument to justify showing an underdressed lady? Well, thatâs new, I guess. Itâs not like it makes âsex sellsâ marketing any less creepy or is a valid excuse for pandering.
As for pants... though they obviously meant underwear, it still makes me wonder whether we should blame probably foreign developer for using only English word they knew or if the advertiser just irrationally clings to unpopular British vocabulary, even though the American meaning is way more popular globally.

edit: Sorry, this initially got posted accidentally too early.Â
