So what do you think? This clip is a fascinating case from west of Roswell, New Mexico on 6/1/19. A relatively high based supercell was maturing before my very eyes. However, you can see from the left side of the frame, outflow from a dying cell to the south was surging north (from left to right). Oftentimes in interactions like this, storms can spin up a tornado relatively quickly. In this instance, as the outflow begins interacting with the parent cell the base lowers dramatically and rapid rotation is noted. Additionally, from my vantage point there is quite a bit of spin happening on/near the surface. However, it’s hard to definitively say tornado due to my location which was a bit removed from the area by a few miles, but the video can be compelling either way. Since this hit nothing and posed only danger to the resident mule deer (and frankly we’ve seen enough big time tornadoes that bragging about something like this feels overdone) — we leave the call to you .
