Every time someone makes Robby out to be an asshole boss that verbally abuses Samira, I have to wonder if they've ever actually had an asshole boss. He is not one. The problem with projecting daddy issues onto their relationship is that Robby has no clue that is even happening. Whatever Langdon and Mohan are expecting from him is out of his hands because he just wants people to do their jobs and not be on drugs.
whoa, are they doing that in samira centric fics?? having him verbally abuse her? in the langdon ones, they have robby be really like, cold? uncaring and mean. like he hates frank for letting him down. which doesn't make any sense either.
robby isn't uncaring. if anything he cares too much. that's kind of his whole thing.
there's no common middle ground fm fandom when it comes to robby and samira. its either robby is right and she's wrong or he's wrong and she's right. when really they're narrative mirrors of each other with a similar trauma only samira's lived with that trauma her whole life and robby's only had 4 years dealing with it. (im referring to her dad and Adamson (sp??) ) and neither of them have really learned how to deal with it or rather, the way they deal with it conflicts with their job.
samira is too slow at narrowing things down but its bc she doesnt want to neglect a patient the way her dad was.
robby does a million tests even tho its a lost cause bc he still thinks about adamson and what he still could have done.
he's her boss and wants her to be better but he also failed her at some point, as a mentor. collins was right when she said samira was losing confidence every time he dinged her for something. and im pretty sure collins has also been critical of samira's slowness in the past (if the draft script is anything to go by). so for collins to able to recognize that, says a lot to me. but robby is still unable to look closer at why he is the way he is and why he's so particularly hard on samira. (bc they share similar traits !!!) (and maybe robby hates himself idk)
either way, fandom makes robby out to be a terrible person and he's not. he's just fucked up in the head. he cares a lot. and yeah, he just wants to ppl to do their damn job and not steal drugs (langdon). he's a simple guy with simple needs.
