Whats your favorite weapon
*Yael's crown turns into an axe*
"This one's my fav. Swords gotta go to 2nd place and hammers to 3rd"
This ask wasnāt particularly suited to @dumbwaystodeviate but it got me thinking so I brought it over to this blog instead because heck yes I have headcanons!
Let us start with Connor: - In hand to hand combat, I think he would be very much a street style kung-fu type of guy. Wouldnāt shy away from fighting dirty and favours the more animal inspired forms. Think of crane blocks (which he uses in canon against Gavin), comes to rest in a dragon stance but will also use less traditional ones like the mantis and monkey. This is his favourite way to engage in combat. Itās honest and equal. - If itās close combat weapons, heāll opt for something like butterfly knives or tonfas. Functional, efficient and no nonsense. - At a distance, he prefers sniper rifles, keeps out of the way, half hidden. He likes the element of surprise and sneakiness on his side.
On the other hand, Nines: - When it comes to hand to hand, he is much more disciplined. Heāll opt for something more rigid stances and katas from karate. Itās efficient, brutal and doesnāt leave much to the imagination. He fights because he has to, not because he enjoys it. - When it comes to weapons, Nines prefers to use things from the environment. Thereās always a good broom hiding in a corner. Which is why he prefers to train with weapons like a staff. It suits his height nicely, heās got precision and reach with it. With a staff, he can also use it as a point weapon or a slashing one that doubles as a defence. Heās also a dab hand with nunchucks and enjoys the sound they make, whistling through the air. - With distance, he likes to have a little bit of a flair. Despite being told itās outdated, he like bows and arrows. A compound bow is what he favours, he likes the weight of the draw, makes him feel he has to work for his shot. If at all possible, Nines likes to keep his distance in fight.
Which leaves 60:Ā - Heās a bit of a wild card, prefers the unpredictability of muay thai, its fast pace and versatility. Despite being built and believing that heās a machine even in the face of deviancy, he feels very much alive when fighting hand to hand. - His favourite though is when heās got a weapon in hand. 60 prefers slightly more elaborate and unique ones such as fans and sais. He especially delights in the contrast of delicately stepping back and needlessly fanning himself before spinning into a lethal blow and then settling back. Not that heād ever mention it to anyone but it makes him feel like a deadly butterfly. - At long range, he likes shotguns. Something and the pellet spray pleases his sensors, he likes to try and predict the pattern before firing. Having said that, 60 also likes to throw grenades and watch the chaos it unleashes.
Ok, so we know Blade, Trouble, and Tallys have a preferred weapon. But what about everyone else? Do they have a more specific one that's important to them (like Blade's sword) or more of a general liking to certain weapons (like Trouble liking guns and such)? Sorry if I made it confusing oops ;;
Hi there, great question! (And not confusing at all!)
All of the Shepherds have a preferred weapon, though only have some have a specific named weaponā
Blade, although heās trained in the use of pretty much all weapons, prefers swords and usually exclusively uses his ancestral sword, Anguriel. If that isnāt around, any Ket-forged weaponry is up for grabs with him.
Trouble has an arsenal of guns and explosives that he uses, though he tends to stick to four: his long rifle for distance sniping, two pistols for close-range combat, and his specialty gun for situations that need really, really big bullets.
Tallys uses a goldenwood bow (an elite and rare type of wood), which sheās had ever since her clan was destroyed. It doesnāt have a name, though! Itās a longbow and, when used from a close distance and with good arrows, can shatter some objects or even bones.
Shery doesnāt use any weapons at all, and Riel has held a gun before, but never had the occasion to shoot it!
Chase uses primarily a pair of twin daggersājagged and serratedāthat do have names. One is black and ornate with a green edge (Ragnarok), and the other is gold damascus and red-tinged with a bone handle (Rhapsody) (this one clearly used to belong to a corsair from the style). He also has an unnecessarily-ornate gold handgun (also named: Trixie) that he has a variety of backstories for: he got it during a heist, he stole it off of an obscenely rich nobleman, he dueled the king of the three seas for it and was granted control of the pirate nation, but opted to just take the gunā¦
Red generally uses his magic over weapons, but he does carry one just in case heās in a situation where he canāt use his spells:
THATāS RIGHT, RED USES A BIG FUCKING WAR HAMMER TO CLOBBER HIS ENEMIES AND THEREāS NOTHING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT
It is, of course, enchanted (he unearthed it while exploring some Mage ruins and just decided to, like, take it home). He doesnāt have a name for it, but Trouble and Chase both call itĀ āolā Reliable.ā
Ayla has a battered and shiny-with-use quarterstaff that she uses both to channel her wind spells and also to beat the shit out of people in battle. She doesnāt have a name for it, but itās covered with runes: symbols that sheās carved into it to represent every place sheās ever traveled.
Lavinet uses primarily a rapier in battle, though she is also versed in archery and can get scary with a knife. Sheās more versed at combat on horseback but improves at her conventional fighting very quickly after joining the Order!
Thanks for the great question!
