MY K-POP WIRE at live: WENDY’S 1ST WORLD TOUR <W:EALIVE> IN KUALA LUMPUR — A Night of Healing, Love, and Homecoming
Wendy concluded her concert tour in 2025 with 2025 WENDY’S 1ST WORLD TOUR <W:EALIVE> IN KUALA LUMPUR on 20 December 2025 at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Organised by FriedRice Entertainment and co-organised by ACO Media, the show marked her return to Malaysia after eight years and her first appearance in the country as a solo artist. As the final stop of her tour for the year, the Kuala Lumpur concert carried both celebratory and reflective significance.
The concert opened with “Fireproof,” delivered in an acappella arrangement that immediately drew focus to Wendy’s vocal clarity and emotional control. Dressed in a flowing red outfit, she set a restrained yet confident tone for the night. She was accompanied by a live band throughout the performance, consisting of drums, bass, guitar, and keyboard, which added depth and flexibility to the arrangements without overpowering her vocals.
The setlist unfolded steadily, beginning with “Hate²,” “Queen of the Party,” and “Why Can’t You Love Me?”, before transitioning into warmer, more melodic territory with “Best Ever.” Wendy’s brief interactions with the audience, including her Malay greeting “Seronok tak semua?”, helped establish a relaxed atmosphere early on. Among her memorable ments, Wendy shared her wish to spend more time in Malaysia on her next visit, expressing interest in visiting landmarks such as Langkawi, Batu Caves, Penang, and the Petronas Twin Towers. She also spoke enthusiastically about Malaysian food, mentioning her desire to try nasi lemak, roti canai, and char kuey teow, and revealed that she had already tried satay with peanut sauce and sambal with a hint of pineapple of which she said she thoroughly enjoyed.
A more introspective section followed with “Chapter You,” which Wendy introduced as one of her personal favourite English songs. She explained the meaning behind its lyrics, describing it as a romantic piece that reflects her journey and aspirations as an artist. The concert continued with a special seasonal performance of the Christmas carol “Last Christmas” by Wham!. As the concert took place just five days before Christmas, Wendy shared that she felt it would be meaningful to sing the song exclusively for Malaysian fans, adding that she had been listening to it since November. The emotional flow carried on with “His Car Isn’t Yours,” “Better Judgement,” and “Vermilion,” allowing the concert to lean further into storytelling and emotional nuance.
Midway through the show, Wendy performed “Like Water,” accompanied by blue stage lighting that complemented the song’s calm and reflective nature. During the performance, a fan project featuring blue light bracelets illuminated the venue, with fans singing along softly as Wendy performed. The transition into “When This Rain Stops” and “Believe” further reinforced the emotional core of the set, showcasing her vocal maturity and control in a live setting.
One of the most meaningful moments of the night came with OST medley. The medley included “Goodbye,” “Because I Love You,” “If I Could Read Your Mind,” “Two Words,” and “Airport Goodbyes.” Wendy shared that although she has contributed to many drama soundtracks over the years, these songs were personally significant to her and well-loved by fans. The medley format allowed her to revisit these works while maintaining the concert’s pacing and emotional continuity.
The latter half of the concert featured “Light Me Up,” followed by “Wish You Hell” and “Sunkiss,” which injected a brighter, more playful energy into the set. “Best Friend” and “The Road” followed, offering a balance of warmth and sentiment before leading into “Existential Crisis,” one of the night’s most impactful performances.
During the encore segment, fans surprised Wendy with a video project, prompting a visibly emotional response. She followed this by sharing a handwritten letter with the audience, expressing her gratitude and appreciation.
“I’m so happy to have come to Malaysia after such a long time to meet you all in person and share my voice with you. I hope you felt the same way I did. As the year comes to an end, we tend to have many thoughts and questions like, “Did I live diligently this year? Did I live well?” I achieved my goals. Looking back, I think I’ve lived really well. My biggest goal was to stay healthy and happy, and I’ve definitely achieved that, for sure. I’ve released an album, held concerts and fulfilled my dream of meeting so many fans, like you guys. So these days, I’ve been thinking. Many dreams don’t have to be something grand, for me and the people around me to all be healthy and happy. I think that’s the most precious dream of all. In 2026, I’ll continue doing what I love, which is singing and I’ll be Wendy which brings happiness to you through my songs. Thank you all for your hard work in 2025 and let’s all live well together in 2026 too. Thank you so much, truly for tonight’s concert and I love you, Malaysia. See you in 2026!” — Wendy, 20th December 2025, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After “Existential Crisis,” Wendy returned to the stage in a red, Christmas-inspired outfit. Rather than selecting the final songs herself, she asked fans which two songs from the night they wanted to hear again. Taking Reveluvs’ responses into account, she chose “Wish You Hell” and “Sunkiss” as a surprise final encore, reinforcing the sense of mutual exchange between artist and audience.
The concert concluded with a curtain call, closing a setlist that comprised 19 main songs, one Christmas carol, and two additional encore performances for a total of 22 songs. As the final stop of Wendy’s 2025 tour, the Kuala Lumpur show stood out not only as a long-awaited homecoming after eight years, but also as a confident statement of her artistry, vocal strength, and growing connection with her audience.
