I feel SO bad when someone calls the store and I can’t help them, but y’all ... a specialty bookstore (or ANY bookstore, really) is not the place to get publishing advice.
A 50 minutes train ride and we're in another country, hearing a different language. How wonderful ^^

Nanowrimo Day 19
“I’m not forgiving you” Snow said softly, the big gem standing with her back straight, her face downcast because she couldn’t even look her partner in the eye. “I mean - I mean I can’t, Rock. I can’t” Her eyes were liquid and soft, though tears were still trapped inside her, waiting for their excuse.
“I know” Rock said, her voice hoarse and her heart breaking. She shouldn’t have done it.
“You stabbed me in the back” Snow said, and her breath caught as she started to cry at last. “I trusted you, and you stabbed me in the back”
Rock moved to touch her, to hug her, to make it stop, but Snow pushed her away. “Don’t. Don’t touch me”
“Snow...”
“Don’t” she said, her face as crumpled and ugly as a wet paper bag. “Just - you can’t make it better, so don’t try”
“I’m sorry” Rock whispered.
“It doesn’t make it okay” Snow said, her shoulders trembling. “It doesn’t make it okay” Her clothes were different, after her reformation - a little closer to the Homeworld Gem’s uniform in colour and shape, though still frilly and full of stars. There were elements of her that had shifted, and elements that had remained the same.
“No” Rock conceded. Although it had been more then a week ago to her, it had been mere moments for Snow, and the betrayal was still fresh. Sooner or later, she knew, Snow would forgive and forget. Snow loved her, and she’d done it for Snow. “I love you” she said hoarsely, trying one last time.
“That makes it worse” Snow said, and she was sobbing now. “Oh, stars, Rock, you stabbed me in the back. Just - go away for a bit, please, I can’t anymore”
“Alright” Rock said reluctantly, and reached out, touching her hand for just a second before Snow pulled away, then turning to leave, closing the door behind her. As it clicked closed, she heard Snow’s sobs rise into a low wail.
Nanowrimo Day Fourteen
“Zombies?”
“Zombies” Amazonite said ominously from the other side of the door.
“What,” Rock said, sounding exhausted, “are zombies, Amazonite?”
“Dead gems reanimated by disease or terrible magic, out to murder the living and infect them with the zombie plague” Amazonite said, “and they're not supposed to really exist! But these are like, corruption zombies! Which is possibly the worst thing that has ever come out of my mouth!”
“Will you just let me in, so we can discuss this like normal gems?”
“Nope! You could be infected!”
“How would I know if I was infected?” Rock said patiently.
“They'd've bitten you or... scratched you, or something, Arsenopyrite got sick really quickly, and -”
“Wait, I didn't...” she hadn't seen the other gem. That was not good. She had an air of quiet competence that made her someone to be watched out for.
