anyone else feel like wc!Scott is bf!Scott's "more gay and more evil" reflection from a parallel universe?
flipped version
as usual, sketches and yaps under the cut.
sketch version!
sketch version but flipped
yap time!
yeah basically i got bored and binged the entirety of Scott's Witchcraft SMP POV and now I have brainworms about this overpowered necromancer guy!
iirc among the bfsmp gravestones was one for "Milo" which means technically witchcraft smp and bfsmp are in the same universe? somehow?
anyhow basically actually seeing the sudden flashback in wcsmp that reveals past-wc!Scott was blonde with green eyes felt like such a jumpscare now that bfsmp is ongoing. like it's almost the same shades of blonde with green eyes too which makes it feel like it has so much parallel potential.
also wc!Scott had a bit about invisibility too. one of the spells he acquired early on and then proceeded to use a lot included invisibility. though he was more nefarious about it.
bf!Scott sure is going through it in regards to deaths of loved ones, but iirc cc!Scott has apparently mentioned somewhere sometime that the chance of an evil crashout arc for bf!Scott are low, which makes me really think this will be like. parallels/reflections but diverging. similar situation but one version turned dark and the other version stayed sunshine.
since i already have a bf!Scott design, I designed a lot of this based on purely "how should the two versions look different while still looking like the same person". i've drawn a lot of Scott Smajor characters lately and my policy to characters played by the CC has been to try to keep their facial structure & general physiology the same, in the way film/movie characters portrayed by the same actor would look similar due to having the same underlying physiology. there are differences that can be caused by stuff like lifestyle/upbringing or makeup/styling but I will try to keep "anatomical" stuff like facial structure and eye shape/type consistent. i am finding i personally like this in my art since it makes the CC playing the character "identifiable" in the design.
mainly, bf!Scott's face is rounder and softer, while wc!Scott's face is thinner and sharper. i tried making it apparent in the side profile but it's mostly a shading thing. even though that got messed up too by wc!Scott literally having a hole in his face on one side. bf!Scott is apparently "still growing", so he has rounded cheeks with a sorta "still has baby fat" look, and he also has fuller aegyosal, while wc!Scott has hollow cheeks and slightly thinner/flatter aegyosal.
for bf!Scott i connected the highlight on the aegyosal and double lid around the inner corner so it makes his eyes look bigger and rounder, and offsets the more angular eye shape by drawing attention in. for wc!Scott I didn't connect the highlights, and the dark eyeshadow going out emphasizes how his eye shape is long and narrow.
I am continuing to have fun with how I've given Scott's characters the half-there brows because getting to draw the outer half differently (or not draw it at all) does make a difference- not drawing in the outer part of the eyebrows does a little to make bf!Scott look more soft and innocent using a base design that very much wasn't meant to be. wc!Scott has the same very sharply arched brows as v!Scott.
bf!Scott has a lighter lip colour than wc!Scott. i tried to give bf!Scott "ombre lips" and not colour his lips in fully but... it's not particularly noticeable, you can kinda tell the bottom edge of his lower lip isn't shaded and that's it. also: i think wc!Scott is the black lipstick kind of edgy.
i think having the collars blend and connect together turned out really cool. i was originally just going to have the two halves fully separated but then I realized the collars lined up almost perfectly, which was too good of an opportunity to waste.
figuring out the overlap for bf!Scott's gigantic cloud of curls though was not very fun and very confusing. i find the end result still a bit trippy, but i feel trippy is okay for this.
i chose to give wc!Scott stringy slimy ghost creature hair that clings closely to him as a contrast for bf!Scott having whimsically fluffy hair that spreads out further than it should.
also wow i keep a masc-presenting character with canon accurate short hair instead of making it a little bit longer/shoulder length for the whimsy~
i tried my best to make it clear that bf!Scott is blonde and wc!Scott has dark greenish black hair, but... there's only so much to be done when I only have regular HB pencils. i'm also someone who habitually tends to press too hard.
wc!Scott gets subjected to the lightless empty dark eyes for "tragic guys who will not be over their dead partners" (the others are basically just v!Owen so far).
wcsmp's comically oversized witch hats would not fit on the page, but I decided wc!Scott still needed a head accessory of some sort (especially when bf!Scott has his flowers) so I gave him the leshon skull. don't question how it's attached to him.
and having made that canon deviating decision to make his design more spooky and edgy, I decided to make more canon deviating decisions to make his design more spooky and edgy. with wc!Scott's recurring theme of the necromantic power causing the area around his house, and later his own body, to decay, I wanted to make it visible in this design somewhere. in canon it's primarily blackened bits on his hands, but that's not going to be visible in this drawing. and also, im still in my body horror era. the "rotted-away hole in cheek that reveals teeth" is inspired by Valeriya Eros, specifically one of her zombie makeups. I tried to make the hole shaped like a broken heart, to signify tie in his motivation for going to such lengths being to revive a loved one.
shading in the entirety of wc!Scott's cloak was not a fun experience nor was it good for my pencils but i think it was necessary for contrast.
wc!Scott’s earring is supposed to be the fang/tooth of a creature.

“Look, Scott,” Cleo teases from where they are standing next to him. “That’s a cousin of yours over there”
“Ha, ha,” he responds, sarcasm filling his voice. He might be a lich, but that didn’t mean he had to let himself go.
Scott frowned, a disgusted expression on his face as the night lich flew right in front of the viewing area. It looked more like an squeleton than a person, the thin layer of pale skin giving it a horrid appearance. While it was dressed by some sort of robes, and seemed capable of conjuring a few basic spells as it tried to escape, it seemed as thought it was devoided of reason, more of an animal than a person. When it moved its head to look at them- at him, a hint of what could be interpreted as recognizion of its kind on its face, there were no signs of intelligence on its eyes.
He did his best to ignore the side looks from the other witches in the viewing box. It was no secret what he had done to himself, but now, with another lich parading in front of everyone to see, it seems like the rest has finally realized what it really meant.
The rest, of course, excluding Cleo, but when wasn’t that the case?
He had known what the ritual implied, and what were the consequences if his magic were to leave him. What he would become.
But, like all other sacrifices he had made since Milo died, he didn’t regret it.
At least now they knew exactly what he was willing to sacrifice for the victory.
“Three!” Bertha started, her voice resonating through the whole collisium. “Two!”
He wondered if she had picked that particular boss for a reason. If she had known that El was in his and Cleo’s coven now, and that they would be present to watch the trial.
“One! Go!”
With those last words, the gate was open, and Eloise entered the arena.
She was fast, and efficient, in a way that spoke of confidence grown from hard practice. The witch wasted no time in resorting to her wand and talisman, and even her ghost arrows, changing both her tactics and positions as the lich drew closer or flew away.
To its credit, it seemed to understand what was going on, and even try to predict its enemy’s movement. Once it realiced how quickly she could evade its shots, and how sturdy her armor truly was, it ran towards the walls, above the fighting arena and well out of the hex’s reach.
Eloise tried to shot at it with the amulet a couple of times anyway, and even tried to back away in an effort to get it back into the lower zone, where she had the advantage. But still, the lich refused to cooperate.
“You are going to have to go after it, El,” he mumbled under his breath. She was stronger with close reach attacks, yes, but it was time to get out of her comfort zone, and end the battle.
“She’s got this,” Cleo spoke. Her voice sounded confident, but Scott could see the way her fingers moved now and then, as if trying to conjure a hex for her. “It’s barely hit her, and she still has plenty of tricks under her sleeve.”
The necromancer made a noise of affirmation under his breath, not bothering with an answer. His eyes were glued to the newest coven member, who had managed to hang to the side of a wall to get a better view of the boss.
He looked up at the clock on the room. He wasn’t worried about her, he had seen her train. But it was the timing what was worrying him.
Unlike all other trials, Bertha had decided that for this one, they would all have a chance to fight their enemy, and whoever killed it the fastest would be given the chance to unlock their third ability.
Frustrated, El let go of the wall and used her powers to change their positions. He had to give it to her, that was one clever trick, and it managed to get her a few hits with her stack, but it wasn’t long until the lich flew up once again, away from her reach.
Then, they saw her try to aim another hit with her stack, but no power came out of it this time. She tried once, twice, three times with no results. From where her coven was standing, it was clear she was panicking over having lost her main weapon.
“It’s nothing, El,” Cleo was the one mumbling now. “Drop it. Don’t worry about it, you have other weapons”
She ran forth and back as she minded her distance with her enemy, hand switching to hold her sword instead. It was a powerful thing, both of the other witches of her coven had made sure of it. She had no reason to worry.
“She has other weapons, right?” This time, it was directed towards Scott.
He felt his mind bluescreen for a moment. What she needed for this fight were long reach weapons. Scott knows he has her sword, and worst case scenario her staff. But neither of them looked very promising for a fight like this.
The lich ignored the question. “Why is she taking so long?”
She should have already drawn her bow since the moment the boss had started flying around. They had talked about tactics.
It had to be just nerves, right?
“Scott, does she has other weapons?” The Time Witch turned for the first time to look at him.
Eloise was a powerful witch, much stronger than she had been when the competition had just started. But this wasn’t a question of wether or not she would be able to defeat the lich, but of whether she would do it faster than the other competitors.
She had worked so hard on this, he wasn’t going to let some nerves get in the way of her victory.
If anyone deserved to win this, it was her.
Scott looked around. The few people that were watching the fight, the other contestants, Bertha, and Mertha, had their eyes glued to the arena before them.
He took a tentaly step back. And another one. Nobody moved to look at what he was doing.
“Cover me,” he whisper to Cleo, before letting go of his form, and became a shadow.
The only answer he got was a small nood. Good. That was all he needed.
Even if he got caught, he had a feeling that he could intimidate Bertha into forgetting he had any cheating had occurred.
He floated over to where Eloise was standing, not unlike his lich counterpart, and watched as she conjured her broom and jumped on it, gaining height quickly as she approached her enemy. Catching up on her right, and making sure her body covered his from the viewing box, he let himself show for a moment, before going back to being invisible.
It was enough for El, as he had known it would. Her eyes went wide for a moment, head tilting to acknowledge him, before refocusing on the threat in front of her.
She had this, the three of them knew it. He was just there to make sure she ‘had this’ a little bit easier.
That was what covens were for.
He followed her as she took her broom closer to the lich, and started hitting it with her sword, balancing her weight in the thin wooden stick, hands free. It had to hurt, the damage it was doing to the creature was evident, but it made Scott nervous. From that distance, a few close hits could actually knock her out, and if that didn’t kill her, then the fall very well could.
Scott though of Cleo, and her question. El needed a bow, a crossbow, anything that would help her get a better stand against it.
As she started to fly in circles, chasing the lich, he took the chance to grab her shoulder with a hand, ignoring the way she shivered under the touch.
“If you land, I can give you my bow and arrow,” he whispered to her, just in case somebody was listening. He let go immediately after, watching closely her reaction.
She froze for less than a second, eyes going wide, and drove her broom as fast as she could to the other side of the coliseum, to the ground. Scott cursed at her speed, doing his best to catch up as soon as he could. He didn’t want to make it so obvious, but he couldn’t say that he really cared that much about keeping the appearances.
But before he had even reached her, Eloise had thrown a few things to the ground, and was grabbing her very own bow, a bag full of arrows near and ready to be drawn. It seemed like she had had them this whole time, and just forgot about it.
Scott resisted the urge to laugh. Of course she would be so nervous as to forget her weaponry. But she had it now, and was already going back to battle. Arrow after arrow, she started shooting the lich with all of her might, keeping a respectful distance between the two, so that she had time enough to move when it tried to attack her back.
He hoovered down, relaxing, as he watched with glee the lich’s life bar go down in the ceiling.
Soon enough, she shoot one last arrow, and the boss fell to the ground, dead for good.
“I should have just done that,” she said as she took her broom down, though it was unclear towards who.
The arena lightened up as the protective spells withdrew, and the other witches hurried out of the box.
“I should have just done that,” she repeted once more, though this time with a smile on her face, as she realized she had won her first official battle.
The viewers started shouting congratulations and advise, and Scott welcomed the distraction to sneakily go back into the viewing box, with everybody else. Nobody payed him a second look, except for Cleo, who muttered an excited ‘she did it’.
Faintly, he could hear El recriminating herself over taking so long to draw her bow.
Hc! That Scott as he gets more powerful starts covering up way more for two reasons. Partly because as he gets more necrotic he starts having bones show through his skin and it really bugs him so he starts wearing practically a full bodysuit under everything or heavy duty gloves and secondarily because as that is going on he starts to get cold all the time like freezing so it uses it to help his circulation
