Wayne Shorter – JuJu
JuJu is the fifth album by American jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter. It was released in July 1965 by Blue Note Records. It features a rhythm section of pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Elvin Jones, all of whom had worked extensively with Shorter’s fellow tenor saxophonist John Coltrane.
Reception
AllMusic review by Stacia Proefrock awarded the album 5 stars and stated:”Fulfilling the potential promised on his Blue Note debut, Night Dreamer, Wayne Shorter’s JuJu was the first great showcase for both his performance and compositional gifts.”

Speak No Evil is the sixth album by Wayne Shorter. It was released in June 1966 by Blue Note Records. The music combines elements of hard bop and modal jazz. The cover shows Wayne Shorter’s first wife, Teruka (Irene) Nakagami, whom he met in 1961.

Reception.
The album is generally regarded as one of Shorter's finest, and also a highlight of the Blue Note catalogue. The Penguin Guide to Jazz selected this album as part of its suggested "Core Collection" calling it "by far Shorter's most satisfying record". The AllMusic review by Thom Jurek awarded the album 5 stars.

At the 2017 Polar Music Prize Ceremony in Stockholm, Norwegian saxophonist Marius Neset performed a tribute to laureate Wayne Shorter.Â
Performance Details: Neset performed Shorter's composition "Beauty and the Beast" (from the 1974 album Native Dancer).
Ensemble: He was accompanied by The Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Hans Ek, along with the Polar Music Prize band.
Context: The performance took place on June 15, 2017, in front of Wayne Shorter himself. It was widely viewed as a symbolic "hand-off" of jazz innovation to a new generation.
