the barrow takes care of its own, like a mother soothing her child. it's why it unstuck the roof access door for the two of them (she cares about safety, of course). it's quite nice to get some fresh air, mark shrugging off his overcoat to cool down against the humidity. cyn has the blanket from the back room underneath her like it's some beach picnic instead of what it actually is. it's not that mark doesn't enjoy it here. it's just that he feels bad about it not being an actual date (most of their trips have been work-related, you know, and cyn certainly deserves something more than that).

still, this is the best he can do with little-to-no planning. he can certainly bring her the finest wine and hope for the best. as mark pours her a glass, he watches with a gentle eye as she pops an edible. they've never been much his thing. it messes with him too much, makes him anxious and uncomfortable (not that he doesn't feel those feelings anyway). more for her, he thinks, gently handing her the glass. it's quiet and it's lovely.

(Well it's not _directly_ tied to Mickrin, but I did envision Rinsha and Mickbell eventually moving in together post-canon, for work purposes, either in that one centuries-old dwarven study in Kahka Brud or a homestead in Melini, no matter.

The 0.75-foot kid takes more after Rin in appearance all things considered, though she'd probably smile more — in a very cheeky manner — and tie her hair in a ponytail still. I imagine she would probably be interested in learning magic and have access to learning materials in Melini, but given her attitude she'd orient herself more towards generalism and smaller-scale offensive spells.

The kobold I assume was born in/near Kuro's old town, ending up near Utaya by way of horrible slaver-involving circumstances, and eventually grows up a fairly tall kobold in the trio's home. Logically he'd take more after Mick (Kuro rubbing off on Mick and Mick in general having more experience with kobolds), which in addition to fight club memberships makes for an imposing, business-minded kobold who nevertheless is deeply affectionate with people close to him.

Either one of them eventually marries an oni. Given their experiences I can't imagine Mick or Rin would be comfortable with their children dating long-lived fellows.)
