(№ 7) Arrived in Leiden. Early June. The pub seen on north side here, by the way, is “De Grote Beer,” which of course means “The Great Beer,” which is a class name for a pub. Funnily enough it’s also the name of a Dutch constellation. Presumably the ancient Flemmings looked into the night sky and, instead of putting in the effort to imagine some heroes or animals or complex mythological scenes like any normal self-respecting pre-iPad civilization, just kept drinking. Anyways, they ought to correct the fault now; I can’t imagine anything more ridiculous than basically having a cup as a culture’s major constellation. Crockery’s got no business in space.  Just more proof that the Dutch are not to be trusted.
