hmmm….. what if instead of grian being forcefully turned into a watcher, hes forcefully turned into a human? him originally being born a watcher, except he was weak, too small n premature to handle his body’s powers, especially at the time he was born at, with his powers were destroying him from the inside out and he was expected to die before he even made it to a month old. the watchers not knowing what to do was his vitals rapidly drop n increase at random, before coming to the conclusion to make him human, since becoming another species is the only way that guarantees his survival, that he’ll make it to at least toddlerhood before passing.
so at 2 weeks old, his tiny body was forced to endure the painful process of becoming something else, of becoming a human. he shrunk a decent amount, but that was expected due to human babies being smaller on average than watcher babies, his cries became quieter before stopping completely, which was again, expected and he no longer moved, falling unconscious. the transformation was a success, grian was a human, but more importantly, he lived.

im v much of the preference that watchers arent terrible or abusive, theyre actually pretty nice n are overall pretty benevolent, theyre just pranksters (an interpretation that sucks to find fan content for cause like, 99.99999999999% of all fics n headcanons that has grian & watchers make the watchers abusive, terrible ppl who beat on grian)
but neways, im only saying that to give context for this hc, that being that due to grian being raised by watchers, having spent his entire childhood n a good chunk of his adulthood w them: grian is a watcher otherkin !! growing up side by side w actual watcher children made him much more inclined to relate n identify as one, especially since he knew little to no actual humans growing up until he started the evo smp after he left to travel. he doesnt feel like an actual human man, n feels more comfortable with calling himself a watcher n wants to be treated like one since thats the only treatment he knows
he likes dressing in watcher clothing, or clothing similar to it n wearing wings (if u believe that they have wings as well, i dont really remember if thats a consistent depiction of watchers) n performing whatever watcher magic his unfortunately still human body is capable of, even if hes pretty limited in what he can actually do when compared to the watchers he grew up w

gem really loves binging avatar the last airbender, especially when she sheds her antlers (if shes a species where the females grow n shed antlers too)

grian can still feel the wings he had before he was turned into a human, tiny phantom sensations that he experiences on the middle of his back that itch and tingle intensely that he cant do anything about. he knows that they turned him into a human to save him, to make sure he lived longer than he would’ve if he had stayed a watcher, but he cant help but grieve what he couldve been if he had stayed his original species, and the fact that he can still feel his original wings long after theyre gone, hurts like nothing else

watcherkin!grian has been gifted multitudes of wings other the years, but none were his favorite quite like the angel wings pearl gave him for his birthday after they met up again after she joined s8. the wings were large, iridescent and beautiful, and theyre attached to a harness that he can put so he can actually wear them and relieve some species dysphoria. they can even flap and fly him around like actual wings, though he did have to learn how to use them and even than, he was only comfortable with gliding and staying close to the ground.
but regardless, he was genuinely excited over his new wings, since none of the wings before never felt quite right. they didnt feel like they were his wings, but these do, and they feel amazing.

grian really loves giving others gifts, to the point where he’ll often stockpile stuff to either gift throughout the month or until the next birthday/holiday/important event/or whatever

watcherkin/otherkin grian who misses living w the watchers due to identifying more closely as one, despite being human. every week he has dreams of being a watcher, of having the wings n overall appearance of one, n every single time, he wakes up missing the feeling of his wings, misses the feeling of living like one, misses the first 25 years of his life where he lived with the watchers that raised him like he was their own child.
he wants to go back. he wants to go back to how he originally was home. this isnt what he was supposed to be. this isnt how he was supposed to look like.
