Joel ate sand as a kid, he definitely doesn't any more. It's not his fault it's nice and tasty and if the beach has a little less sand than when he arrived, well that's just correlation. Everything is normal, everything is fine and there is NO sand being consumed.

the first night of pride month every year the cishet hermits decorate the houses of all the lgbt hermits with their flags (and put up flags at their own houses) it was started by pearl just surprising gem one year but turned into a server-wide thing

They are all queer, they host their own pride parade and drag brunch, grian is Ariana griande obviously, scar does something padme inspired, doc wears a Victorian dress, and jevin just moves their slime around to appear more fem. Xisuma wears a dress over the armor

To add onto the Jevin caterer headcanon, the other hermits actually DO celebrate Jevin's birthday. It was the day after they realized slimes didn't celebrate birthdays, so they quickly just threw something together in 24 hours.

At the end of each season, the hermits hold a mass-cleaning event to clean up the server, including their bases and minigames, for whoever comes after them. After all, they won't be using them anymore. They know that once they are gone, other lost players will find their home there.

Scar bakes sweets for the ither hermits all the time. That's nothing new. However, when he found out that certain hybrids such as avians and wolves/dogs couldn't have chocolate, he asked Cub and Doc to help him make the best chocolate substitute possible.
