We are sadden to learn of the passing of the hall fame great Wes Unseld. RIP Wes
Westley (Wes) Unseld, a NBA hall of fame basketball player, passed away on June 2, 2020. He played for the Washington Bullets. Wes grew up in Louisville, KY and played ball at the University of Louisville. Unseld had been fighting lengthy health conditions, most recently pneumonia and passed away quietly surrounded by family members. Unseld was 74.
Wes Unseld was an undersized NBA center known more for his bruising picks, tenacious rebounding and perfectly placed outlet passes than any points he produced. ''I never played pretty,'' Unseld said when elected to the Hall of Fame in 1988. Unseld, who began his pro career as a rookie MVP, led Washington to its only NBA championship and was chosen one of the 50 greatest players in league history, died Tuesday after ''lengthy health battles, most recently with pneumonia,'' his family said in a statement released by the Wizards.
