Fjord, apologizing right before passing out
Whump Fic Bingo no longer accepting
Fjord does the math in a blink. They are not gonna make it, not like this at least. The freaking necromancer has been throwing death rays or something out of his damn finger tips, and thereâs goddamn zombies everywhere, and then the bunch of evil idiots following the necromancer and getting into the fray. Itâs all too much for them, they shouldnât have taken this job.
They are all gonna die unless they turn this thing around. Jester went down twice already, and he spent both his potions on bringing her back up. He shields her with his both as she recovers, pushing zombies back with the falchion and struggling to dodge the necrotic spells that are flying around the cave. One hits Molly and sends him down immediately, and itâs up to Beau to keep the living death in line. Calebâs fire helps, but heâs also busy hiding behind a bunch of rocks trying to keep himself alive. Nott is... somewhere, he hopes, sneaking around to get a it in. If this necromantic asshole doesnât kill them all first.Â
Oh, shit, would they come back as zombies if he does?
âFuckinâ dammit,â he hisses as he sends his spell towards him.Â
Hold person, because he remembers how freaking useless it made him back at the manticoreâs liar, and because he needs to stop this fucker if his friends are going to have a chance at surviving. One more necrotic spell from him, and they might be fucked.
warsawmouse replied to your post: crawls pathetically on the floor because of the âI...
these two, i swear.
I just realized this could be the only time in the campaign that mollyâs revealed something some non-bullshit personal info without being coerced and it was to BEAUREGARD
and there are so many possibilities for what beauâs answer was I have no idea which direction to think in but theyâre all messing me up
maybe it was good that the conversation was interrupted as soon as it started bc I am already a mess just from exactly two lines
While i adored Yasha's time to shine, and perfectly understand M9's desire for everyone to appreciate her, i'm a little worried about her gaining so much notoriety when at least Gunter IDed her as Xorhasian by face markings. The authorities might not like that for PR reasons. Also, after the war is officially announced in Zadash, i'm afraid something like internment of all "potential spies" might be in the cards.
In general, I feel like gaining a higher level of recognition is probably not the best idea with this group. Perhaps just people knowing their name is good, but when they start doing incredibly public things, like this tournament, the chances of their physical appearances becoming more common knowledge rises, and that means the chances of undesirable people being able to recognize them, either by sight or description, goes up considerably.
We've got Jester, who is on the run from powerful people in Nicodranis who want her dead; Molly, who has know memory of who he used to be and could possibly have untold amount of enemies; Nott, flippin' goblin; and Yasha, who comes from what's considered the "enemy" empire.
Also, Caleb has expressed wanting to keep a low profile, so it definitely seems he has people he's running from that he would not want finding him (there's been theories that he's a military deserter, or that he accidentally killed someone and is wanted for murder). There's also been mention of Nott specifically being on the run from people. Even Beau potentially has problems in this area. She said she had a criminal background, which I think could mean a couple of things: (1) she had a rebellious youth stage where she got involved in criminal activity to piss off her parents or (2) her family is involved in crime. Either wait, that would open up the potential of there being people she would want to not know where she is (whether she realizes it or not). And honestly, even just being the rebellious daughter of a rich guy could cause some problems when it comes to the visibility of the group.
As for Fjord, we know so little of his background, so who the hell knows.
So yeah, things like the tournament might be good for getting their name out their and getting jobs and such, but these are things that are going to raise awareness of their physical appearance, which is something many people in the group should be concerned about.
As for Yasha specifically, if the things that made that guy recognize her as being Xhorhasian were more well known in the area, people would have recognized her as such and she would have probably received some negative reactions as a result. The empire might not have officially been at war with Xhorhas until now, but there's obviously been a long history of conflict and hostility. If her markings were something even remotely well known, I'd think that someone that they've come across either with some level or power or knowledge of such levels of power would have said something.
The war being officially declared could lead to an increase in propaganda where more specific features and aspects o Xhorhasian appearance and culture are identified. But there's also the chance that the level of propaganda would remain where it is, if it's already happening because of the continued conflict.
Some kind of internment might be something Matt crafts as a way to explain another Yasha disappearance when Ashley has to go back to NY (if? I saw some speculation that Blindspot might not get another season, but I don't really pay attention to ratings and such, at least for shows I don't watch, so I have no idea).
I think, though, that would depend on exactly how bad and corrupt Matt wants to make the overall government of the Empire look. Because that's something that would have to come from high up. So far it seems that he's been leaning on this idea that overall the Empire and the power structures within are good, but that there's corruption within it. So I guess we'll see exactly how bad and authoritarian and whatnot Matt wants to portray the Empire as being.

were you named after star trek planet?
No, actually, my dad found the name in a terrible Western novel he was reading when my mom was pregnant. I was named for a fictional Mexican Old West sex worker.
I am not joking! He never told my mom WHERE he found it, or I would probably have a different name. XD

warsawmouse replied to your post âOne of my favourite things about episode 13 was Travis...â
the kicker: i am 100% sure taliesin knew that they are supposed to run into someone that knew him in that tavern, the whole time matt was describing the place he was tense like "is that my cue?". but as for who and what the hell with the tabaxi's reaction? i think he knows as much as his character which is absolutely nothing.
Taliesin was definitely expecting something to happen there, I agree! I canât make my mind up how much he (or Molly) knows about the tabaxi specifically, though - heâs obviously excited for the scene and the possibility of backstory, but I canât tell if itâs âyes all these things only I and Matt know are about to be revealed!â excitement or âI canât wait to see what terrible wonderful new information Mattâs going to throw at me hereâ excitement. Aaaaah I canât wait for the next episode!Â

i don't think Molly has amnesia, actually. there are other types of memory
problems, like related with dissociation and trauma processing.he'd have a
general recollection but be sketchy on details, esp. the bad ones. asking Matt
whether they passed thru Trostenwald before would be due to the fact he was then
still recovering from whatever trauma made him silent when he arrived at
the circus. the other one, not recalling what he knew abt. the fiend imho is
due to time. what little i read abt. blood hunters mentions rigorous training.
but molly seems inexperienced, he's low level, he act pretty shaken up by all
the fighting. i don't think he was a "practicing" blood hunter until now. i think
he was initiated as a youth. possibly a child, possibly unwilling. then
something happened, and he was separated/escaped/was abandoned by his
order. also, all joking surrounding the incident aside, the drug deal last time
and the absinthe now kinda indicate a pattern of self-medicating. i think that
whatever went down with molly, heâs not all that well recovered from it. and
that, both the problem and the âsolutionâ would result in gaps in memory. but
none of it amounts to amnesia. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
(Sorry for the weird formatting on this!! Tumblr was suddenly being glitchy with replies.)
Now this makes infinitely more sense to me with what (admittedly little) we know about Molly than a complete memory wipe. Because exactly, he doesnât know specifics, but he does know when to ask detail questions. Plus the fact that he was nonverbal when arriving at the circus speaks more to a mental or emotional trauma. And yeah, the drug deal as an isolated incident was relatively humorous in an âItâs Always Sunny in Philadelphiaâ kind of way, but that in conjunction with the fact that it doesnât seem to be the first time heâs sought out drugs, in conjunction with his âquiet nervous breakdownâ over some sketchy fantasy absinthe does not indicate a healthy person or mind.
Iâll admit I hadnât thought of forced initiation as either a child or an adult. I figured it was something gone wrong with the hunterâs bane, that he survived, but it came with some unintended mental costs. Tbh I didnât realize until earlier this week that he hadnât already been tied to an order (at least that we knew of)! Regardless, youâre definitely right that he seems pretty inexperienced, and I like the idea of him just now becoming a practicing bloodhunter.
@warsawmouse
Huh. Y'know, I hadnât even thought of that. I guess she could be a Crick, but she also could be on their payroll? What makes you think that it was the real Claudia who was left in the cellar?
