       He’s halfway through a bag of cheetos, mindlessly scrolling through the group disco.rd when he feels the controller nudge his cheek. A irritated noise emits from the back Eli’s throat but nevertheless he puts the bag down and dusts his hands off on the already stained napkin on his knee before taking the controller from BIlly. “The correct way to ask was: Please Eli-Wan Ken.obi you are my only hope... But I guess I can let it slide this time. Where are we? If I’m still escaping the Fade then I swear to you Billy you owe me two pizzas tonight.”

There, in his hand, just above the garbage disposal, is the airpod in question. The delicate, precious, and most importantly— expensive airpod. A relieved sigh escapes him with more dramatics than is called for as he closes his fist, hand withdrawing. “I feel like I’m going through deja vu because didn’t this exact thing happen last week? And didn’t I already call you a bonehead for headbanging while doing dishes?”

“Well, Billy— in case you haven’t noticed, but NOTHING ever seems to go to plan with us! Not in our past lives, not in our alternate universe lives, and not in this life, so I’m just helping to cement our family tradition!”

He looks up from his food, noodles hanging out of pursed lips as Billy starts. For a second, he’s expecting some exasperated comment, something about how he needs to learn a few things about being a big brother from someone who’s spent most of their life as a big brother. And it’s because of that that his noodles remain dangling unceremoniously out of his mouth for so long.

Quips race across his mind as he slurps up his food, ready to meet his twin’s presumed playful energy. Except, what happens instead in something so painfully, annoyingly Billy.

He taking a cheap shot: going right for the feelings with an emotional blow.

Brows raise for a split second before setting his chopsticks down on the table, leaning back in his chair after a moment. “You hit yourself on the head earlier? Or is someone blackmailing you into saying that? NOT that you’re wrong, of course.”

Humor is always the best way to handle unexpected emotions, but Tommy’s not thick-headed enough to keep treating everything like a joke. He used to be, and god knows he treated everything as a joke when they were kids. No wonder he drove everyone crazy.

His joking subsides, but a small smile remains glued to his lips as he look at his brother. If you asked him 10 years ago if there’d ever be anything that Tommy felt this comfortable around, this safe around, he would have laughed in your face. And yet here he is now, eating dinner at with one of the best people in his life— even if Billy could be annoying and melodramatic a lot of time.
