Ignoring the implications of Victor having stalked him for a non-zero amount of time, Victor's excuse didn't explain anything. Rather, it raised a host of different questions based on whether Scenario A, Victor saw him on the walk to the forest, or Scenario B, Victor saw him on the way to the house with the axe, happened.
"Victor, I'll be frank: that doesn't make sense," Zig'd break this down as best he could without pointing too many fingers. "I was on the furthest reach of town when I found the axe, and my walk to the forest wasn't long. If you did see me on the way, you would've known where I was heading. Why wait to go after me?"
"--Never mind, we'll argue the logic later. Elle's present matters more right now," Giving his person one more pat down, this man-on-a-mission was at the door. "Shall we? But don't forget the short swords or the pistol before we go; we'll need to be ready for any surprises."

The metaphorical raincloud hanging over Alvin pushed others around him to give him a wide berth. He stepped off the boat, and angled for the warm heart of the town, with footfalls that seemed to get heavier with each step. He had spent most of the trip trying not to think about planning this conversation, or the myriad of things that could go wrong before he even got to it.
Alvin was at least spared running into Derrick, though he considered that seeing the other man would give him an excuse to procrastinate or even escape his own laid plan. He chewed on the inside of his cheek, and instead of steering right to the clinic, forced himself left to the lodge.
He took a deep breath before he touched the door handle, and let himself inside. The coolness of the inn was welcome but disorienting, and he squinted to adjust to the dimmer light.

A frown as the young teen shifted his weight from his perch on the roof of the building, his pen gliding across the paper in elegant swirls of a jumbled mess of facts he had gathered since arriving is this odd world. He knew for a fact by now this wasn’t Aldurant. There was no Daath, no Order, no... Van. Yet despite that, his mask say firmly on his face, the wind blowing bits of his hair around.
There was also no fonons. At least not in the way he knew them. Fonons were in everything, the air to the cells of a human body. Yet here... he could hardly feel their presence. There wasn’t a whole lot of them for his glyph to take in, so for now, he’d sparingly use artes.
A sigh left the boy as he snapped the book shut, looking at the city before him. “I know you are there, come out already.” He wasn’t in the mood for games.
