Pokemon Warlocke - A Nuzlocke Variant with a Demonic Twist
Here are the official rules to the Pokemon Warlocke, a Nuzlocke variation where you assume the role of a possessed child hellbent on summoning the Pokemon Anti-Christ (pardon the pun, thereāll be a ton more). All the protagonist has to do is follow a rigid ritual that happens to be a nuzlocke. Beat the Elite 4 + Champion under these restrictions and you will get all the credit for plunging the world into eternal darkness.
Detailed rules below the cut:
*Fair warning, this hard mode will need some set-up; ask a friend for help if you want to take the challenge yourself!*
Rule #1 - Fainting = Death
Like any Nuzlocke, if a Pokemon faints it is considered dead and is unable to be used for the remainder of the playthrough. That said, do not release fainted Pokemon because the Warlocke does have an exception when it comes to revivals
Rule #2 - First Encounter = Only Encounter
As with other Nuzlockes, players can only catch the first Pokemon that appears on each route. Failure to catch the Pokemon means that the player gets no encounter for the route. If the player has already caught a Pokemon in the same family as the first Pokemon to appear in the route, they can mulligan and re-encounter for that route.
Rule #3 - Name Everything
Nickname all your Pokemon. To keep with the theme every nickname has to be vaguely demon inspired. Be metal. Be wicked. Be 2edgy4me.Ā
Rule #4 - Only Use Special Attacks
Your team can only use attacks of the special variety. These are considered spells.Ā
Exceptions: Fire, Ghost, Dark, or Poison Pokemon can use any physical attack, and any Pokemon can use a physical attack that is Fire, Ghost, Dark, or Poison type. Status and buff/debuff moves also donāt break this clause. All these moves are kosher to the demon community.
Rule #5 - Pokemon Must Carry Orbs
All party members must carry a Flame Orb, Toxic Orb, or a Life Orb. These self-draining items link your āmons to the Pokemon Anti-Christ, and keeps the Dark Lord strong while you work towards freeing him from his hell-bound shackles.
Easy: Start the journey with 6 Toxic and 6 Flame Orbs
Moderate:Ā Start the journey with 3 Toxic and 3 Flame Orbs
Hard:Ā Start the journey with 6 Toxic and 6 Flame Orbs; Toxic Orbs canāt be given to Poison-types, nor Flame Orbs to Fire-types.
Exception: Any declared Emissaries of DarknessĀ are exempt from this rule.
Rule #6 - You Can Sacrifice For Bonuses
If you draw up a pentagram and slit an innocent Pokemonās throat, your demon-god will repay your sacrifice with game changing benefits (releasing Pokemon will get you points that you can trade in for prizes).
Pokemon that have been used in battle or have be received off of the Wondertrade are worth 1Ā sacrificial point. Pokemon that havenāt been used in battle are consideredĀ āvirgin pokemonā and are worth 2 sacrificial points.
Points:
1 Point ~ 1 Life Orb
2 Points ~ Wondertrade a sacrifice, or trade-over any item of your choosing
3 Points ~ Trade over any egg of your choice (or gen in a lvl 1 non legend) or declare any Pokemon as a Wildcard for an Emissary of Darkness spot
5 Points ~Ā Revive any fainted Pokemon* Ā
*Update: Adjusted Revival Costs from 3 Points to 5
Rule #7 - Emissaries of Darkness
Emissaries of Darkness are intended to freshen up your playthrough by forcing you to use attacks or Pokemon that you wouldnāt traditionally consider using. The emissaries are each based off of the 7 deadly sins. Players mustĀ fill all 7 Emissary of Darkness slots before beating the region champion.
Emissaries can use any move or hold any item (barring that they are not bound to an item)
To declare an Emissary, a Pokemon must always have one of the listed requirements for their sin, be it move, ability, species, or held item. (For all you logic turds: you may swap an Orb for the necessary item of sin, when declaring an Emissary.)
