Michals's work makes innovative use of photo-sequences, often incorporating text to examine emotion and philosophy. Joseph Angelo D'Allesandro III is an American actor and Warhol superstar. He was a sex symbol of gay subculture in the 1960s and 1970s, and of several American underground films before going mainstream.

The Smiths’ debut 1984 album featured cover art of Joe Dallesandro from the 1968 film Flesh. The film, directed by Paul Morrissey and produced by Andy Warhol, showcases Dallesandro in a starring role.

Born on this day: old money American socialite (first cousin of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy and Princess Lee Radziwill), bold fashion risk-taker, raccoon and feral cat enthusiast, devoted daughter, frustrated cabaret chanteuse and genuine eccentric Edith Bouvier Beale (aka “Little Edie”, 7 November 1917 - 14 January 2002). This woman, her equally idiosyncratic mother Edith Ewing Bouvier (“Big Edie”) and the documentary Grey Gardens (1975) are an endless source of inspiration.
