Imagine that Loki manipulates Odin to let him invade a realm, showing him that the realm has been acting unruly and ignoring Asgard’s guidance for peaceful settlement of their ‘differences’. In truth, he is acting on the missive of the realm’s princess, who had sent it to Loki to ask him to rescue her and her kingdom from her brother’s rule. Her brother is known to be reckless and ill-tempered. Further, she states that he’s planning to marry her off to a corrupt and cruel noble. Truth is, despite all of this being true, she also wants to remove her brother in order to rule herself. After his first attack, Loki truly gets to know of her plans. He is rather annoyed that she’s trying to use him to attain her personal ambitions, so he states his own conditions in providing aid and protection to her. And the first of these conditions is that she accept to become his war bride.
