You can’t beat a troll in an argument.

They don’t care about being right.  They don’t care about making sense.  They don’t even care about winning arguments; all they care about is pissing you off.  If you engage with the meat of their assertions, you lose.

You have now fed the troll.

The worst of them will do anything to cheese people off.  Lie, cheat, steal, make shit up, “ironic” sexism/racism/homophobia that eventually turns into just actual sexism/racism/homophobia if they’re left to stew in it for too long.  They don’t want to win the argument.  They’re just like the people who use aimbots or invincibility hacks in multiplayer games; they’re after attention and an empty, weak sense of validation that they can no longer accurately gauge as weak and empty.  That’s the win, to them.  Their smug “detachment” is, in reality, a desperate grip on the only thing they think they can affect about the world beyond them.

I’d feel sorry for most of them if they weren’t such assholes.

After much deliberation and the urging of several of my patrons, I have decided to shelve Wander Over Yonder indefinitely.  I'm not enjoying it, and, more importantly, my audience isn't enjoying me not enjoying it.  I can't even make my lack of enjoyment funny. Wander will still be on my liveblog list in the same way Madoka Magica is--to be liveblogged once in a blue moon when the urge strikes me--but it is off the main roster.

In the meantime, patrons on my Patreon get to vote on its replacement!  If you’re a patron, head on over there and suggest shows for me to liveblog.  After a few days of collecting suggestions, I’ll run the list by my community staff and some friends, collect the good liveblog material, and present it to my patrons to vote on.
