(2/2) Some details of the walnut frame: Using screws in the side of the frame was a common method early on in Bark Framework's history that we employed here (many other framers did the same). The splines hold the corners together tougher than nails, and the screws through sides secure the frame to the wooden strainer in back. This is ideal if the wall of the frame is to be very thin, making reverse screws (or screws through the strainer that go into the frame wall from behind - which are hidden from view) not possible without potential for cracking the frame sides. We also made a 4ply mat with a straight-cut circle opening for the artwork for color, and cut Optium Museum Acrylic to match the outline of the mat and print. #customframing #BarkFrameworks #walnutframe #alexgrant #preservationframing #worksonpaper #circularmats #optium #plexi #madeinNYC
