Educating collectors, students, and art world professionals about archival framing and frame design is important to us. Normally, we'd give talks and tours of our facility, but -- as COVID protocols have changed our world -- we have found other ways to teach about what we do, even if at a distance. Last week, Bark frame designer Amy Hinten acted as a guest speaker for a graduate-level workshop at the School of Visual Arts , taught by artist (and former Bark employee) James Siena, over Zoom. Amy created a virtual tour of Bark Frameworks for the group, and discussed preservation framing, with a focus on the process of hinging and matting. Amy also presented a number of various frames and finishes to show the range of approaches to framing aesthetics.
