Sinclair is growing more everyday. At almost a year, he is nursing only a few times a day and once at night. It is both a relief and sadness to his mam.

They are planning his first birthday as his first cousin is due to arrive anytime. It is a wonderfully busy time for the Fraser and Murray’s. Claire is finishing up her second semester of university and Jamie his first year. Their families are quite proud of them.

Claire sits at the kitchen table, studying the anatomy of the hand while Sinclair plays happily at her feet with blocks. He had been crawling about everywhere and cruising about the furniture and with the assistance of every adult at Lallybroch. Because of this, they have a gate that keep him in the kitchen.

“Mam?” He calls out and she looks down. He is standing on unsteady feet and grinning up at her.

“Oh Sinclair! Look at you!” She stands quickly and calls for Jamie. He is just in the next room and appears within seconds. He stops dead at the sight of his son.

“Da!” he screams and takes a wobbly step. Then another. They both stand still, afraid any movement would distract him. He reaches his daddy and a teary eyed Jamie lifts him into his arms.

“Getting ready for Frankie's big day today! She wanted Emily to be one of the flower girls, so we've been practicing this whole walking thing... She's not quite there yet, but she's made so much progress! In fact, the wedding might be a showcase of Emi's first steps all by herself! I'm not sure I'm ready though... Frankie getting married and Emi walking without any help? Nope. Here come the tears!
