Spn and Walker Pilot thoughts
Spn had a pretty cool pilot.
I liked that the ghost was a mother that didn’t just kill herself but also drowned her kids. Like yeah that is some dark shit.
And the little conversation about running credit card scams with fake identities. And the motel owner recognizing the fake last name as the same one John Winchester used on the motel room he rented out.
The whole episode was dark too which fit the aesthetic and probably helped budget wise since scene dressing would be obscured in shadows.
And of course Sam and Dean were just a lot of fun with their banter
I didn’t like Mary Winchester and Jessie getting killed for a plot device or how John Winchester was a crappy absentee dad.
So reading that in the Walker pilot the wife gets mysteriously killed in the first couple minutes and now Walker needs to solve her murder, and then he disappears for months to throw himself into undercover work. And he leaves his kids behind to be raised by relatives for the duration. I’m just...
*Warning my massive whump overhaul to Walker Pilot below with depression and cheating and murder-suicide*
Imagine if Walker pilot had his wife go homicidal and kill their two kids. It would be a really dark show that would probably scare me. But it would be a hell of an opener. And it would be borrowing from the cooler part of the Spn pilot instead of the yuck part.
So he’s not a crappy absentee dad. He’s a broken man that lost everything because he cheated on his wife. He quits the Texas rangers and falls in and out of other jobs. And his wife’s ghost starts killing people (ok wrong show). So maybe she doesn’t kill people, and she just makes her cheating husband’s life hell.
And he hates that she killed their children, and she is just running around messing his life up at every opportunity. The realness of the ghost is kind of ambiguous. We’re not sure if she’s real or if Walker is flying into rages and destroying his own shit.
Walker’s parents are convinced he needs to be committed or he’s on drugs. And he kind of thinks they may be right. So he donates a bunch of his shit to charity and tries to reasses his life. Then maybe he tries to help the underprivileged in Texas. The people he always thought of as suspicious when he was a cop.
And idk maybe there is a way for him to redeem himself. And pull the shattered pieces of himself back together.
