“Hey, can I ask you something, Whisper?”

Whisper looked over at the young boy who he was living with.

“Yes, Keita/Nate?”

“Since you and Mitsunari/Waitington are very close…does that mean I have another set of parents?”

Whisper felt his face heating up as he struggled to find the words to say.

“Umm…t-that depends on what you mean by that. S-sure, Mitsu/Waiti and I are close, but I don’t understand how that relates to us being another set of parents to you.”

“You two certainly act like my parents when it comes to Yo-kai stuff.”

“W-well…yes, that’s true…”

Whisper had to admit, Keita/Nate was right. If whatever Yo-kai hi-jinx proved to be too dangerous, Whisper and Mitsu/Waiti did act like a pair of overprotective parents and would take Keita/Nate out of the area until they could find a way to deal with the problem. However, if the problem was very minor, they would let Keita/Nate deal with it on his own. Heck, Mitsu/Waiti would tell Whisper about the times where he messed with some older students that were bullying Keita/Nate when he was younger, further proving Keita’s/Nate’s point.

“Actually, where is Mitsunari/Waitington? I haven’t seen him since this morning.”

Whisper shrugged as Keita/Nate glanced down at his Yo-kai Watch.

“Well, I have to get going. I have to go to a friend’s house and help with a project. I should be back home before dark.”

Whisper let out a sigh of relief and said,

“Be careful, Keita/Nate.”

“Whatever you say, Papa Whisper.”

Both Keita/Nate and Whisper were silent as Keita/Nate realized what he had said.

“Err…I mean…I’ll be careful, Whisper. Gottagobye!”

Keita/Nate rushed through the sentence and quickly left before the awkwardness could sink in more.

What am I going to do with you, Keita/Nate?

Whisper looked around the first floor, bored out of his mind. Jibanyan and Shogunyan were out doing something, Hidabat was in the Yo-kai Realm for business or something, Keita/Nate just left, his father was at work, and his mother had just left to do some shopping, judging by the noises he heard downstairs. Whisper floated downstairs and found that he was the only one in the house.

Welp, since there’s rarely a moment of peace in this house, I’m going to take advantage of it and take a nap.

Whisper laid down on the couch and after praying that a random Yo-kai wouldn't burst in and ruin the quiet moment, he fell asleep.

Whisper was barely awake when he felt someone’s arm wrapped around him. He opened his eyes a bit more and noticed that he wasn’t directly on the couch, he was laying on someone laying on the couch. Whisper adjusted himself to get a better look and saw the familar violet eyes of Mitsunari/Waitington. Whisper jumped back in shock as he blushed brightly.

“Ah! Mitsu/Waiti!”

Mitsu/Waiti wasn’t surprised to see Whisper acting like that. They had only recently started dating, after all.

“Did you have to wake up? You looked adorable sleeping.”

“I was going to wake up anyway, Mitsu/Waiti. I just didn’t expect to see you when I woke up. Where were you earlier?”

“Taking a walk and enjoying the scenary near Mount Wildwood. I would’ve been out longer if it hadn’t started raining.”

Whisper turned to a window and saw that it was indeed pouring.

Oh, great. Keita/Nate has to walk back home in this weather. I hope he remembered to grab an umbrella.

“Whisper?”

Whisper looked up at the ghostly shogun.

“Yes?”

Mitsu/Waiti sat up, making Whisper fall onto his back with a surprised yelp.

“Sorry, old friend. Can I borrow your Yo-kai Pad?”

Whisper sat back up and summoned the Yo-kai Pad.

“Here you go. Why do you need this?”

“Looking something up.”

Whisper went behind Mitsu/Waiti to see what he was looking up.

“Are you looking up Pikmin again?”

“What? They’re like a cute army you can take control of.”

The two of them had actually watched a few videos of humans playing the Pikmin series, so Whisper knew Mitsu/Waiti was right. Whisper did like the series, but watching the deaths of the Pikmin brought back bad memories, which meant Mitsu/Waiti often had to comfort him.

“We don’t have to watch any Pikmin videos today. I was just bored.”

Whisper just floated there, unsure of what to say until his earlier conversation with Keita/Nate came back into his mind.

“So…Keita/Nate and I had an interesting conversation earlier.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah…he says that we’re a second set of parents to him.”

“Well, he’s not wrong, Whisper.”

“I know, I just find it a little strange.”

Mitsunari/Waitington lowered the Yo-kai Pad and said,

“Strange?”

Whisper nodded.

“Y-yeah. I’ve always imagined having a family in the future, but…I don’t know. I’m a Yo-kai, you’re a ghost, and Keita’s/Nate’s a human.”

“Sooo…you’re saying that when Keita/Nate becomes a Yo-kai, we can adopt him?”

Whisper stared at Mitsu/Waiti, mostly out of shock.

“I’m sorry…what?”

“Well, we can’t adopt him when he’s still alive, Whisper. That’s just silly.”

“You are aware that his grandfather is a Yo-kai, right?”

“It would be Keita’s/Nate’s choice on what he wants to do or who he wants to live with when he becomes a Yo-kai, but I don’t want us to be separated. I enjoyed our time together for far too long.”

Whisper felt a smile cross his face as he kissed Mitsu/Waiti on his cheek, but as he attempted to float off, he felt Mitsunari/Waitington grab his arm, pulled him close, and kissed him on the lips. Whisper was bright red by the time Mitsu/Waiti pulled away. Whisper buried his face into Mitsu’s/Waiti’s chest to hide his flustered face and yawned.

“Are you still tired, Whisper?”

“Ehh…a little.”

“Go ahead and sleep. I’ll keep watch.”

Whisper closed his eyes, feeling Mitsu/Waiti running his hand over his back. Whisper mumbled softly before he fell asleep,

“I love you, Mitsu/Waiti.”

Mitsunari/Waitington kissed Whisper’s head softly and whispered,
