Concept for next shoot
The years I associate with being my “hardest” were in my late teens to early twenties; today. Reflecting on these years, asides my own personal affairs, I saw the world turn on its head due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic that took place in 2020 and radically changed everyone’s lives forever. To me, the pandemic became an umbrella for many circumstances related to global concerns (such as anti-vax protests, “Black Lives Matter”, the 2020 presidential elections in the USA aka Trump vs Biden, climate change, Texas abortion laws, poverty, Taliban impacts on Afghanistan.... the list really just goes on). 2020-2022 represent years of which society embraced - or didn’t - change. It also represents a time of worldwide whiplash, fear, anxiety, anger. When I consider my life as a young woman, and the dark realities of the world during these years, a different image emerges. I can visualise the many emotions of which were brought about during these times - I remember the feeling of “fight or flight”. For this shoot I want to tell everyone’s story. Combining both still life and portraiture, I want to reflect on the predominant moments of which the pandemic provided for me, and most other people; portraying how the pandemic changed my life.
