My favorite princess tutu episode is (probably unsurprisingly) episode 12, which is funny because nothing HAPPENS.
I love how the entire purpose is to get Duck and Fakir from point A to point B. It’s an episode where all they do is wander around looking for Mytho, yet imo it does the heaviest lifting for the rest of the show out of any other season 1 episode.
We see Fakir go from wary of Duck to quite literally willing to die for her, all in the span of 20 minutes. From his quiet but gruff confusion at realizing she bandaged his wounds to his meltdown realizing she is in fact The duck, over and over again we see these little moments bringing them together.
Something I admire about the show is that it’s so palpable WHY they like each other. We’re not told that they’re friends, we’re shown a million different ways they look out for each other. We’re not told Fakir has feelings for Duck, we’re shown the moment(s) he realizes it.
This is why episodes where the characters just hang out are so so important. If they cut Fakir and Duck goofing around, they would lose the heart of the show.
