Filing taxes and why it is a tool of an oppressive system
Ok so maybe I'm getting on my soap box here a bit, but honestly fuck filing your taxes. If I have to file taxes in order to receive my tax returns and I go to jail if I don't, isn't that kinda a shitty system that prays on people? Also, since tax return softwares cost a decent amount (around 60 dollars) isn't it benefitting only the people who aren't even getting any returns and who can afford it? Sure, in theory you could do it by hand, but the likelihood that a complicated system is going to be accurately executed by someone who is probably stressed, overworked, and tired is likely lower than if they weren't and it assumes a mastery of both language and reading to be able to be done. Also, in my state of PA you have to file taxes from a w2 if you earn over 33 dollars, which is everyone who works. If the government can withhold my money from my paycheck for taxes, why don't they just take it from the beginning and file back TO US the reason why they withheld money. I feel like this is an overly complicated system meant to entrap people in tax fraud.
