Information About MBAV The New Blood!
Hi everyone, I've been seeing so much discussion about this possible reboot that has gone viral on tik tok and exploded our cozy little fandom into something big in a very interesting way. There's been a tik tok account with very scant posts, so I did some research last night into this new blood stuff and found some evidence that seems to prove that this reboot is not actually happening.
to get the most damning evidence out of the way first, there's a tik tok account who claims to be a huge mbav fan (and has only been posting on this account for 3 days, around the same time all the new blood accounts started popping up) and made a post with these screenshots
I decided to send an email to the address listed on the 6th screenshot ([email protected]) and was immediately shot with the "this shit does not exist" response from gmail. which is the most obvious example that this reboot is not an actual thing.
that 6th screenshot is very fishy in general. I would love to see the original links of these "leaks" and be proven wrong tho! all the names are real people who have worked in vampire media/canadian television in the 2010s, but there's no evidence that they're aware this thing is happening when I look up their names. also 13 episodes of a tv show? in the modern day? not very likely.
other dubious examples include the fact that no new assets have been created for this project, everything used is footage and images that have already existed out there that us true fans already know about. this youtube video from the new blood youtube channel uses footage of a bts vlog from vanessa morgan that isn't publicly available anymore on her channel. plus the bg music originally there is now gone. if you know how to use the wayback machine and find the video before it got taken down, record it, and then used an ai tool to remove the background music, then that's exactly how you could make this video yourself.
this video also claims tom mcgillis is at the forefront of creating this reboot, which can makes sense since he, along with jennifer pertsch, created the original concept of the show. they didn't work on the series in its final form as showrunners however, because tim burns was then brought in to create what we now know as the show and changed a lot from their initial pitch. but that doesn't mean mcgillis couldn't do the reboot, so its not a huge red flag. what is a huge red flag is the fact that they say fresh tv is behind the production, when their website says claims of the such with no new updates, and they use their old brand logo in the video, with is ripped directly from the end screen of an episode of the show. also, this audio claiming to be tom mcgillis in the video says they are working in their toronto studio on carlaw avenue, when the fresh tv website lists their headquarters as being on wallace avenue (also as of 2024 on google maps there is no discernible fresh tv branding on the wallace avenue location. so i'm willing to believe that they maybe moved studios and have not updated their website yet).
I'm not good enough at detecting ai to say whether or not the tom mcgillis audio is ai generated or not, but it is notable that mcgillis was recently interviewed by streamer kai cenat about the other show he created total drama island, and so he would be the best figure in the modern day to train an ai to sound like him to claim a reboot is happening. with gen ai being so advanced these days and chat bots spreading misinformation to people on tik tok, I fear for how gullible the tik tok audience has gotten and it makes me feel even better about never having used that app. but no one gives af about tumblr so i might have to post on there sharing the info I've given to you all now -_-
last thing I wanted to share was this alternate account posting that the show will be coming to disney+ in 2027. first of all, the use of the acronyms "mbav" and "mbsav" is something fans came up with here on tumblr to distinguish from other fandoms, because the original acronym was "mbv" and you can see it in the credits of episodes. its not weird that a new reboot would use the acronym that is now the most popular one, so I'll let it slide. however, disney+ being evoked not so much. disney channel had no involvement with the creation of mbav, and only licensed the show to air on their network. i doubt fresh tv and disney would be working together to create this reboot, but for someone who doesn't know anything about the creation of mbav, I can see how this can be super convincing.
teletoon has been evoked throughout on these channels as well in hashtags, which is odd considering teletoon doesn't exist anymore, and was absorbed by cartoon network, so they should be using the tags "cartoon network canada" if this was a real production. plus, cartoon network is owned by warner brothers, and again, I doubt warner and disney would be working together on a reboot of a random show from 2010 that most people don't remember.
please be safe out there yall and do your research about this stuff. I'm willing to see if things change or be proven wrong, but I'll be making a separate post about my thoughts on a mbav reboot if it were actually real. thanks for reading yall <3
