The spider that bit Spiderman 086 was a product of the Resurgence Project; a top-secret enterprise that aimed to genetically engineer superheroes that would work for S.H.I.E.L.D. and safeguard the world from outside threats.

Among the first recruits was Yolanda, an orphaned girl who dreamed of attending the New School of Dance, but was struggling to make ends meet. She was taken by operatives of the Resurgence Project and subject to rigorous experimentation.

Through genetic mutation, Project Resurgence aimed to grant her the power of foresight. This ended up working a little too well, and her mind was fractured.

She became aware of her own reality, and the amalgam of infinte realities beyond her own. She was driven clinically insane, and was locked away in an asylum... Unable to focus on her own reality, forever lost to the cacophony of the events happening beyond.

That is until several years later, when introduced to Spiderman 086. His venom lessened the strength of her abilities, and for the first time in ages, she was grounded.

Yolanda subsequently adopted the name "Gwenpool" because upon learning about the comicverse and its surplus of characters (specifically the many spidermen), she knew that's who she was meant to be.

My take on what Peridot and Lapis' fusion would look like! I think they'd be Turquoise. 🤔

I decided to pay homage to Lapis' new form with their top, and as for their high-waisted shorts, I thought about how Peridot really likes those alien head trousers, so I gave Turquoise something similar! Peridot also likes being tall, and the boot heels help her be just that.

As for the overall design, I went with Opal-esque arms and two sets of eyes like Rainbow Quartz. I gave them a somewhat futuristic visor to set them apart, and the hair is really just a mix of Lapis and Peri's individual hairstyles!

The star shaped keyhole in the back (aside from allowing Lapis' gem to be seen) is really just a way for Turquoise to say "I'm a Crystal Gem, too!"

Now, when it comes to the two extra wings at the bottom, I really have no explination for them, haha. 😅 Though, aside from just looking cool, I suppose they could be a result of the heightened strength that fusions possess!
