In 2018 I gave my left kidney to my very sick dad to literally save his life. Technically, kidney donors automatically lose 50% of kidney function which means as a donor I have stage 1-2 (depends on my Glomular Filtration Rate and how well my remaining kidney does) kidney failure. My dad has had no complications but is and will be immunocompromised for the rest of his life because he HAS to take medications to suppress his immune system so it doesn’t attack my kidney in his body. Forever. Flus are dangerous. Colds are serious. RSV is dangerous. Things like listeriosis and ecoli can be fatal. Any virus can be extremely dangerous. Coronavirus can be fatal. Please please please practice good hygiene, common sense, empathy and social distancing for people like my dad’s sake. You’ll likely be fine but my family could lose a father, a husband, a brother, and a grandpa. I didn’t volunteer to go through invasive medical tests and lose a gallon of blood to lab after lab after lab and then get cut open and lose a vital organ, which has impacted MY daily life too, just to have to plan my father’s funeral not because his kidney failed but because people didn’t care about not spreading a global pandemic. #socialdistancing #coronavirus #covid_19 #covıd19 #vulnerablepopulations #diabetes #organdonation #kidneydonor #nationalkidneyfoundation #herdimmunity #dontbefuckingstupid https://www.instagram.com/p/B9sWYtmneXd/?igshid=1mo08rqw4hyp3
