He lived in London, the USA and Paris. From the end of 1935 Roerich permanently lived in India. This period - one of the most fruitful in his work. For 12 years he painted more than a thousand paintings.

His Path from Impressionism to Suprematism. He distinguished three stages in Suprematism: black, color and white. At the first stage, the artist explored the relationship of forms, at the next - the colors, at the last - the textures.

In 1901 the artist's son was born, Nadezhda Zabela left the scene, and the contents of the family was fully borne by Mikhail Vrubel. This worsened his state of mind: he became withdrawn, short-tempered, suffered from insomnia. During these years he again painted the demons. Work on "Demon Prostrate" literally boiled: instead of the usual three or four hours, the artist sometimes worked for 14 hours a day. In 1902, Vrubel was placed in a psychiatric hospital - from that moment began a period of his decline.
