“Do you ever just… tweak the shiny sprites of some pokemon and then...”

Aight. I’ll share the bird trio because I’ve been hunting them in ultra moon of late (just moltres to go!!)
I get that their shinies are being as true to their very first versions as possible and all, but ye ol games back then were just so.. colour limited! Why not expand now that there’s the option?
But anyway
Articuno! Current original and shiny
Love the lighter blue, but they’ve lost the contrast in Arti’s crest and tail. It’s all one tone now, and it’s even more apparent in the 3d model. Makes Articuno look very flat :c
I’d keep the lightness, tip the blue towards a teal, and bring back that contrast
Deliciously icy.
Zapdos! Current original and shiny (pardon my squashing them together. Dumb tumblr sizes)
I actually really dig the direction. Subtle, but enough to see it, y’know? (yeah I’m looking at you Garchomp). But again, more just could have been done.
Maybe darker again, I’d say - improve the flattened contrast that happened in the body shadow. But blue tint that black! And grey-blue the leg pants too! Create more interest without going over the top, I think
Positively scrumptious.
Moltres! Current original and shiny (squashed again)
Pink! It’s bold and I could dig it, if only it was just... more thought out! Why only the body tone??? WHY SO FLAT. Again with the depth lost in the shadows (seriously, turn them greyscale and it becomes starkly obvious what I’m talking about)
But heck, man, this is what I’d gun for if told to run with pink.
Pale that body yellow and slap a pink toned shadow on it. Ease up the red on beak and legs, and then!! PORTWINE FIRE
Still pink! But NICE PINK. For the love of god I would die for a shiny like that
