Void Stydia AU Part 3
“So it was something like the Underworld’s anteroom.” said Lydia, and Stiles nodded. They were sitting in the resturant of one of the thousand gas station they met on the way home. “And how did you opened a gate to the Underworld itself?” she asked. “I didn’t. You did.” he said. Lydia stood silent for a moment. When they were facing the Wild Hunt, Lydia wasn’t totally sure about what she was doing and she hadn’t the time to inform herself about the reaction the gate of Hell could have had if she screamed in the antechamber. “So, they’re coming back?” Lydia asked. She wasn’t sure who she was talking about. Probably the werewolves who died in the past years. “Not everyone, but a huge part.” he said, with a strange smirk on his face. “And how they come back? You know, take Laura as example, she was cut in two half, and her body is probably rotting in a hole next to the Hale burned mansion…” Stiles stopped her with a kind smile. They were rare on his face, in the last months, due to the nogitsune’s presence. “They come back like they never died, and they’re going to attract a lot of our old friends back in Beacon Hills.” “You promised you’re not going to hurt them.” “And I always keep my promises, didn’t I?” he asked, cupping Lydia’s hand with his own. His touch were frosty. She asked herself how Scott and Malia possibly don’t notice the symptoms they already saw on their friend. Stiles stopped in front of Eichen House, to the opposite side of the street. “Why are we here?” Lydia asked, remembering with a shiver the last time she was trapped in the insitute. “To take'em back we need someone who lives in here.” said Stiles, and his voice’s tone was different, the one he had when the nogitsune was fully controlling him. “Do you remember how difficult was to go in without being arrested, or worst, hospitalized?” she asked. “But we know someone who hasn’t any problem to go in and out without being noticed.” Lydia knew who he was talking about: Jordan. “We can’t ask him.” she said, immovable. “Why?” Stiles asked, with his most innocent look. He knew why they, most of all, can’t ask Parrish any favor. “You know why” she said, in a sharp tone. “He has a soft spot for you, and so? You can use it in our advantage.” “He’s afraid of his power, we can’t ask him to use it to free Charon’s evil brother.” “But we can ask him to use it to free a Hellhound.” “If you just need a hellhound, try to ask him .” “He has morals.” objected Stiles. “You should have some morals too, if you don’t want Scott to notice.” she said, knowing that the argument can make the hellhound’s matter pending for maybe a day or two, if she was lucky. Stiles restarted the car, and with a reckless maneuvre he returned on his lane. Someone played the horn, but Stiles seemed to don’t notice. Scott was waiting for them at Stiles’ house. When they arrived he was sitting on a bench, talking on the phone, but he hang up the second he saw the car. He jumped up and in a moment was opening Lydia’s car door. She smiled, a really wide smile. She missed her friend. Stiles switched off the car and get off. They were like three children, hugging and laughing. Lydia was delighted that the nogitsune let Stiles enjoy this little moment of pure bliss. A little tear ran down her cheek. The picture could have been perfect, if only Allison was there. Stiles looked at her, right in the eyes, and she knew the nogitsune was feeling what she felt and he became a little bit more strong every time she mourned for her loss. They were in the living room and Scott was trying to update the both of them about what happened in the last months in Beacon Hills. Life seemed to be normal again, after the Wild Hunt’s depature. “So we can have a normal summer break” said Lydia, relaxing. “This is what it seems like, but I’m going to keep my eyes open, you know, after what happened last year.” Scott said, and Lydia looked at Stiles. If only Scott was the one who was taken, or Malia, the nogitsune never came back. “And what about Jordan? Is he finally in the pack?” asked Stiles. Scott shook his head:“ He’s trying to have a normal life, beside the Hellhound thing.” “He shouldn’t reject his nature like that. He’s alive just because he was the ideal body to contain such a strong power.” said Lydia. “You should talk to him. He listens to you more than he does with everyone of us.” suggested Scott. Maybe it wasn’t the worst idea they had, afterall. “Tomorrow I’ll leave. I’m going to the ocean with my father. You know, like a proper holiday.” said Scott, like it was the most important of the news and he wanted to drop it like it wasn’t important. “I want to give him the possibility to establish a son/father relationship.” “Your choice. But if you need something, just let us know. And if you’ll se something you don’t like, tell it too. We want our alpha to feel safe.” said Stiles, and he wasn’t Stiles at all. There was something in the darkness of his irises that screamed nogitsune at full lungs. And Scott seemed blind. Lydia bit her lower lip and she smiled, shrugging Scott’s shoulders with one arm. The whole pack escorted Scott to the airport. It was just a week but Liam acted like it was something permanent. “Guys, Scott has a phone, an internet connection and his new iPad. We’re going to see him more than ever.” said Lydia, with a gentle smile. Liam doesn’t seemed satisfied at all, but he wasn’t on the verge of a breakdown anymore, so it was positive. “And Stiles is here to help you with everything you need.” added Scott. Liam threw a sneaky look at Stiles, who smiled like he was the most proud parent on Earth. Liam was still bitter about what happened some months ago. "And I’m here too.” said Malia. “I’m not an alpha but Scott trained me very well.” “I’m still not sure about what happened during your training session” said Liam, perplexed. Malia didn’t catch the allusion and hugged Scott, giving him a goodbye kiss on the cheek. Lydia hugged him too. With his face sunken in her hair, he said something. Lydia froze for a moment, then she dissolved the embrace and took a step back. It was Stiles turn, and Lydia felt Scott’s eyes on her. “I’m going to call all of you when I land” Scott said, as a last goodbye, but he was looking at Lydia. Lydia’s legs was shaking a bit. To be onest, her whole body was trembling a bit. She wasn’t sure about what she’s going to say to Jorand. He agreed to meet for a coffee, and he was already in the local. Lydia saw him from the window, with a big cup of coffee in front of him. She was late. Not like she arrived late, she was already in the parking area when he arrived, with the deputy’s car, but she waited, looking a him when he entered the old, fragile door, and she looked at him when he sat down and ordered his coffee. Five minutes passed and he wasn’t drinking it. Probably it was already cold. And then he turned, looking Lydia right in the eyes, waving at her. She waved back and entered. He stepped up, ready to hug her, but he stopped and softly kissed her on the cheek. She felt guilty. She was going to use in her favor his crush for her. It was stupid to think about what Jordan felt for her as a crush. It was something more. And Lydia herself wasn’t immune at the deputy’s charm. She choose Stiles, but her feelings for Jordan wasn’t totally gone, and that’s why she felt this bad about what she was going to do. “Do you want to order something?” he asked, sitting back in his place. Lydia smiled. He was always so kind. "Just a glass of water.” she replied, and she waited while he said her order to the waitress. He reminded her of Jackson, in a strange way. "It’s been a long time since the last time we talked.” he said. “Four months.” Lydia replied. She kept count. “And what happened in the last four months?” he asked. He was really interested in what she has to say. “I was really busy with the exams.” she lied. She passed every test studing less than two hours a day. “Is it really this hard?” She shook her head and smiled:“ I was just anxious. I wanted to have the better grade.” “And have you reached your goal?” “Obviously” she replied, proudly. “And what about you?” “Same work, same old life. I was afraid when you came back, to be honest. When you’re all together every kind of disasters drop on the town.” “It’s not our fault.” she was lying, again. Nearly every time something happened on Becaon Hills it was their fault. “Chaos follows us.” “It follows me too, but I try to push him away.” “The Hellhound took your place again?” “Just twice. And I don’t remember everything.” “But you remember something. It’s a step forward.” “It’s not this easy.” “I didn’t say it should have been easy. I say you’re doing great.” Jordan blushed a bit. He wasn’t like Jackson, in this regard. Jackson was accustomed to receiving compliments. “Are you still in touch with Scott?” she asked, and smiled to the waitress, who left a big glass of water on her side of the table. “Not this much. He wants me in his pack, and I don’t want the supernatural to occupy such a big part of my life. Plus, it’s like a teenagers pack.” “Do you remember we just tuned twenty, right?” “But the new alpha is just seventeen.” “He’s not the alpha. Scott still has his title.” pointed out Lydia. Her phone rang. She was ready to hang up but she saw it was Scott. “Speaking of the devil…” she murmured, turning the screen to Jordan, so he can look at the name on it. “Go outside to answer, inside the signal is disturbed.” She nodded, and she swiped her finger on the screen. Scott didn’t even said hi. “Are you with Stiles?” he asked. “No, he doesn’t answer at the phone?” she asked, worried. “No, I didn’t even tried to call him. I want to talk to you.” he said. “What’s wrong?” she asked. “Nothing’s wrong, it’s just something I’m embarassed to talk to Stiles about.” “I never thought in my life I was going to listen such a sentence.” Lydia tried to joke, but Scott didn’t laugh at the other side. "What is it? Tell me everything.” “I want to ask Malia out.” he said in a whisper. Lydia bit her lower lip, but stopped when she remembered she had some lipstick on. “Please, tell me you’re not shocked.” “To be honest, a little. It’s not like I don’t see the both of you together, but do you remember she’s a little… wild?” “I know, her flaws list is really long, but I can’t get her out of my mind.” “Did you really done a con and pros list?” Lydia asked. “Stiles taught me to analize things.” “But it doesn’t work when you talk about relationship!” she exclaimed. “And what works?” asked Scott. Lydia stood silent for a moment. She asked herself why she was with Stiles. She loves him. She was desperate when he was missing. She thought she can’t live without him. “Think about your life without Malia and then tell me what you see.” “I see emptyness.” “So give it a try.” “What if it doesn’t work?” asked Scott, worried. “Malia is strong and indipendent. She will find a way to be ok again.” she wanted to add “like it was with Stiles” but she let the sentence flew between them. “You’re right.” he said, and after a second of silence he added “As always.” “I know. Now try to enjoy your holiday with your father. You deserve some relax, after all.” “Thank you so much Lyds. I’ll call you later.” “It’s nothing. But call Malia, instead.” she said, laughing a little, before she hung up. Jordan was still waiting for her inside. “Something’s wrong?” he asked. She shook her head:“Just ex adolescence problems.” “And that’s why I don’t want to join his pack.” “But you get along well with Stiles.” Jordan stood silent. “You should talk to him. He’s the only human in the pack and he’s dealing with the supernatural very well.” “And what if he makes me join the pack?” asked Jordan. “If he convinces you to join the pack it means it was the right decision.” she said with a tender smile. She felt dirty even in the most remote part of her soul. When she came back home, she found Stiles talking at the phone. By the tone he was using, it was Scott. “Don’t worry, I told you a thousand times I’m going to take care of Liam if his anger come out like I’ve done with you.” Stiles shut, Scott was saying something on the other side. “No, I’m not going to chain him on my radiator. I found better ways to deal with werewolves’ anger.” Lydia looked at her boyfriend with a perolexed expression. He shook his head to say it was something not very important. Lydia was still curious but she stood stilent and gone upstairs to have a shower. Stiles entered the bathroom only when she was fully naked. He barely looked at her body, focused on what Jordan said. “He accepted to talk to you.” “When?” “I don’t know. Probably he’ll call you when he think he’s ready.” Stiles was furious. Lydia felt the anger even if she wasn’t looking at him, focused on the water’s temperature. “We don’t need him.” he roared. “So why you wanted him this much?” Lydia asked, tuning back to look at him. “ ‘cause you’re the plan B.” They were in front of Eichen House, deep night and no stars or moon to lit the sky. Lydia was sure she can do what Stiles wanted, not this sure she wanted to do it. A single tear rolled down her cheek, and Stiles smiled. He wasn’t Stiles anymore, and she knew it. She should have ran away, but she just can’t. He was holding her hand in a tight grip. Too tight. "You just have to go in and scream, Lydia, it’s not this hard.” he said, and even if she knew it was wrong, she wanted to do it, to please him. So she done it. And the security guard fell down on the floor, brains exploded of the sound. Her scream can bring back the dead, sure, but can cause death too. And they there irremediabily dead. But she felt nothing. She wasn’t ashamed for what she has done. A lightning passed past her, and Lydia was sure she saw long, black hair in the blinding light. Stiles joined her, and they entered the main door. The building was too silent. No electicity buzz, no voices full of panic. And then the sounds came all at once. There was roars, voices loaded with relief and hysterical laughter. All the chamber’s doors were opened and the occupants were free to took possession of the building that was a prison for them, probably for years. But all those people vanished in Lydia’s eyes when she saw a figure, standing in front of her, long, black hair down her narrow shoulders, a satisfied grin on her pointed face. "Kira…” she murmured, and the girl, who was in full kitsune mode, made a too wide smile. It was all wrong in her figure, and the worst of the things was her presence in Eichen House, helping her natural enemy do complete his evil plan. “Why…” Lydia started, but Stiles stopped her. “She was too precious to rot in a hole with the Skinwalkers, so I took her back.” “How…” she started, but stopped when she saw the expression on Stiles’ face. He was a nogistune. He was even more powerful than those women. For a moment, Lydia thought at Scott, what would his reaction be to seeing her again, but then she understood he wasn’t supposed to know. It was too much for her, and yet she stood on her feet, trying not to faint of start to cry. She just wanted everything to be like it was before. She just wanted the happily ever after she wasn’t going to have. Her phone buzzed on her pocket. It was Scott. She rejected the call.
