it surprised me when I saw someone's post about Danny Elfman is their soulmate and they genuinely think they're supposed to be together.
i thought they were just saying that because he's relatable or something, but then I saw they made a second post that was 20 Minutes Long about soulmates and the connection they felt with Danny. the caption was so long they continued in the comments.
this isn't a joke post by any means, I feel sorry and concerned for their well being. this isn't healthy at all. ik people joke about their feelings towards Danny, so do I, but i don't think I've seen a single person who had genuine feelings for a guy they've never even met before.
parasocialism in this community is strange in a way? theyre not typical but it exists. im guilty of it myself, the times Danny's seen my stuff gets me super hyped, I can't help imagine the thought of meeting him irl. but I know most of the fans I've seen have good intentions at best. they're super cool and welcoming, and weird and strange like Danny.
it's weird, because this is normal for any fanbase surrounding irl people, but it's normalized?? I'm not trying to get into if parasocialism is strictly good or bad (I think it's morally grey, it exists whether you like it or not) but it makes me wonder how many of these fans exist? why do they think this way? do they acknowledge guilt? i can't help but feel pity. they see Danny as comfort but it gets to a point where comfort becomes corruption.
