So recently I've been taking the bus to work. I can't read on the bus (motion sickness) so when I'm not talking, I'm thinking and bus AUs came to mind. This one was inspired by me seeing my friend from high school while I was in the bus, I waved at him and he got on even though it wasn't his usual bus. Thankfully, he lives up my road so we were going to the same place anyway.
I can't seem to write this the way I think it. So I hope it inspires someone to write or maybe I'll get inspired myself.
AU set somewhere between Veronica leaving Neptune and coming back to Neptune. In which:
- Logan sees Veronica on a bus (for reasons that can vary through being on a holiday or following someone and having easy access to them on the bus or simply being the cheapest means of transportation)
- she stands, hands on railing and he's immediately taken away by her because it's been years and he could be hallucinating but he's not, she's really there, right across him, right within his reach.
- as a split second decision, he gets on the bus.
- she's surprised to see him, taken by his sudden presence next to her and he finds himself feeling equally as surprised but the familiar warmth that raises within him is still very present and that doesn't surprise him at all.
- the bus is packed, there's pushing and invasion of personal space but he's next to her for the first time in years and her being pushed up against him is something he's dreamt of time and again - he's definitely not complaining about it and she doesn't seem to be either.
- it's a bumpy ride and she tightens her grip on the rail to hold herself steady as her body sways. Logan's hand finds itself on her waist to help her balance. She doesn't really need help but she doesn't mind it because it's coming from him. And despite the years of radio silence, she's missed him and the way his hands felt on her.
- it's hard to have a conversation in a bus full of people pushing their way through and loud music as additional background noise but it doesn't really bother them that they can't speak because their eyes say everything their mouths can't.
- he doesn't have any change for the bus trip, carrying too high a bill on him and the conductor (this is what we call the person that collects the bus fare here) doesn't have change to give him.
- he's about to just tell the guy to keep the whole thing when Veronica interrupts and pays for him, remarking something about how he would carry a $50 bill in the bus.
