I saw your designs on the Clam Splatband character, from the Bottom Feeders I believe? I don't remember their name, and I'm not if you said somewhere else and I just missed it, but if the guitarist is supposed to be sort of a fursuiter? But with a clam instead of any mammal or reptile? What species are they under the suit? Also, with everyone being sea creatures, is it really fursuiting, or more like cosplaying as say an elf? But if elves were a real race of people?? Species bending...?
Im admittedly hesitant to write his name because it’s so awkward for my brain to try and convert that 2 english spelling.. My first instinct is “Multar” but that’s technically not correct and is just my attempt at reverse engineering an english rule word out of katakana based on how other names and words get katakana-fied… “Murutaa” looks TERRIBLE in eng yknow?
Anyways, in canon he is 100% supposed to be an Actual Scallop. They’d say he’s suiting if that was their intention, yeah? And that’s fine in that setting! It just doesn’t work for the Splat Bio au that I’ve defaulted to working in. Also his body is growing out of his gotdamn hinge and isn’t connected to the soft tissue inside the clam which drives me up the wall either way. I’ve been stewing over how to alter him in order to fit into my au setting, either to make a more reasonable bipedal clam, or to twist him into one of Con’s Approved Splat Bio Species (probably would have gone sea slug bc non-cephalopod mollusk, + I already have a precedent for converting shelled mollusk to sea slug with a hat). However I could not think of a design that wouldn’t render him completely unrecognizable, so I just went “fuck it” and made it a fursuit. Clamsuit. Whatever. He already looks like he could absolutely be a suit so.
As for the implications of the suit? There’s none! Because in the Splat Bio setting, there are no sapient bivalves. All clams are simple animals in this setting, so no, This Dude isn’t going around wearing a costume of another sapient people, thank goodness. He’s just the universe equivalent of a furry lol.
I don’t know what species he is under the suit. In-universe it’s A Secret. Looking at what size and body proportion he’d need to have to comfortably wear it though I’d say either an inkfish or a smaller fish. A fish would probably have a less awful very bad humid time in there though
