1: Why did you start role playing?

I was curious, very curious…

Because most of the tags were filled by gifs, fanfics, fan art, and… something else. App advertisements for role playing, so I submitted the lousiest app in the world, and was lucky enough to get in.

9: Is there a certain writing style or colloquialisms you have to use for you muse that changes from your own?

Tatia subconsciously uses English that belongs to another century (even though she possesses the ability to speak in contemporary form and speak in a few accents). It’s a character flaw more than anything, because she misses the era, a time that has long passed that would make no sense for her to cling on to — not so evolved after all.

The challenge writing her speech pattern is… to not have a pattern, at least not in the words and phrases selected. One has to constantly formulate new ways of expressing thoughts, in her tongue, and so the same phrase or distinctly-Victorian-English may not be used more than once or a few times.

Something to note is that this pertains to the way a thought is expressed, and not the specific vocabulary used to express it. For example, if the thought in contemporary English is, “piss off,” Tatia may say, “Why, the absence of beauty is to be deplored. I do not wish to see something disagreeable.” Or depending on mood and subtlety, “I shan’t incommode you any further.” The challenge in writing her speech is not in the ability to use words like perchuance, devoirs or incommodious, but how originally you can express the same thought in different ways.
