9/11.
Before 9/11 happened, I never used to think of anything terrible happening to my Dad when he would go away on his trips.
But since the 9/11 attack, I have worried about him every single day that he is gone. Every time he walks out the door to go fly...I worry that it will be the last time I see him and the last time I hug him. Every time he calls from the airport to say goodbye before he boards the plane and walks into the cockpit...I worry that those will be my last words. I know I'm not the only one who feels this worry. To any of you who deal with something similar, stay strong and stay positive.
Tell your family members and friends that you love them, everyday. Don't let life pass you by and live each day with them like it's the last one you'll ever have.
When my dad calls after he lands, I feel a flood of relief.
I haven't spoken to him all day today yet. I can't wait 'till I do. I know he's okay...I've been watching the news all day.
My heart goes out to everyone lost on 9/11 and to all of those grieving families and friends...and to everyone who has suffered from this terrible event. They won't be forgotten. And this day will never be forgotten.
Thank you to everyone who has found a way to honor those lost and to anyone who has been a hero, rescuer, comforter, or a helper with this in any way. Thank you to those who took part in the memorials; I watched the 10-year memorials on C-Span today and they were heartbreaking, but beautiful.
Thank you to everyone who continues to do their job, with no fear....like my dad. I greatly appreciate all of the pilots who continue to go out and do their job, and put up with the extra security and being around constant worry and suspicion and dealing with the stress of the job. I'm grateful that airlines have re-trained the pilots for new actions to take when things like 9/11 may occur. I pray it never does. But, I'm always go to worry about my Dad and about that possibility.
I love that our country has found a way to stay strong. 9/11 may have brought us to our knees, in extreme pain but we will always stand back up with pride of being Americans. We will remember our lost loved ones and we will fight to heal and stay strong. I love you all.
I love my Daddy, and I'm very thankful to have him, even though I have to worry about him all the time. My heart hurts for those who lost someone on 9/11.
