This is a much more compact example of what I mentioned when I discussed the portrayal of Osaron. Stories are powerful, but that doesn’t make them automatically benevolent.
Look how nice this scene seems. Look how the child is painted as way more reasonable than the people who turned Osaron away. Look how many people that river rock killed.
This isn’t even actually limited to the villains. Starting in Gathering of Shadows we’ll get a sense of the way Kell is used a propaganda figure, not by anyone evil, but by King Maxim.
