To wrap it up: .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 "metamorphosis" was a no-brainer, and yet... I was tempted to skip the obvious and do a Kafka interpretation for an intellectual twist. But if I'm honest, I absolutely and wholeheartedly despise his work (and the teacher who made us read it for what seemed like a lifetime) 😨 I finally admitted that I just struggle to draw butterflies and was trying to avoid it. But after some attempts I managed to make one I am actually quite proud of!💃 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 "proactive" was interesting because it taught me that time can be part of a sketch. What I mean by this is, that just as you chose the tense for your verbs when writing an essay, you can think the same way when doing a sketch. With "proactive" you can draw a scene where someone is anticipating a future need (maybe draw it in a bubble) and preparing for it. Or you can move the scene into the future, when the need arises and show a character that is prepared. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 I never thought O could translate the 23F into a sketch, but thinking about how everyone must have been holding their breath brought me to the final idea. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 I try to make neat final sketches. But my preliminary drawings are quite messy, as you can ser. And my list of words is BEYOND crappy!! I just wanted to share it all, in case someone thought the list was in beautiful golden calligraphy 😂😂😂 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 After thinking and re-thinking some sketches I simply LOVED seeing what my colleagues had come up with. 💚💙💛💜 ¡So many brilliant ideas and such a supportive community! 😍 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 I quite enjoyed it and would do it again some time! More stuff I learned from the challenge: .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 "Lost" was an interesting word. I tried a sketch of a wooden post with all direction signs on the ground... But not knowing where to GO is not the same as not knowing where you ARE, right? I'm a stickler for detail. I finally came back to the forest idea, as it's such a basic concept, only I drew 🌲 instead of🌳 and it worked better because the trees blocked the view more. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 "Play" I knew had to contain a Lego piece, since I spent half my childhood playing lego-astronauts 🚀 AND Elon Musk had launched SpaceX, so it was a very geeky week! Only problem... it's kinda hard to draw a spaceship! Plus overlapping lines worked better with a pencil than with a black marker. Anyway, the whole process got me thinking about my nephew's favourite toys: empty boxes! Which is when I remembered what play is really about. 😍 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 I sketch ahead of the day, because my camera is crap without natural light (actually even WITH natural light). And I wanted to post first thing in the morning, before life gets busy. 📝Except on "success" day, when I realised at 6AM that I had written "sucess" 😂 I sketched it again, and photographed it under a desk lamp... And then had to use an editing tool to get rid of the strange shadows 😓 But solving a problem before breakfast surely counts as success, right? Plus I was wide awake by then. 😀👍 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 There's no need to overthink. "Cycle", "Skiing" are good examples. But it's nice to come up with a twist of you can. Doing the February sketchnote challenge was fun! Here are some things I learned: .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 Oh the flow! I think the best ideas came up when I had the time to draw more and go back and forth between words & ideas. .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 Initially I'd draw directly on the notebook📓 Until I realised it didn't have that many pages! (It's a publicity notebook, nothing fancy). But once I switched to loose papers my thinking changed, too! Drawing stuff I knew I could discard helped explore more options 🙃 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 Some words really made me think: friendship, life, enjoy... I could (and might) do another 10 sketched on them! 💙 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉 I also became aware of my process! (Sounds fancier than it is 😁) I start by thinking of (draw-able) examples and if they are universally understandable. Then I try to chip away as much as I can from that mental image. That's my favourite part!! 💚 And then I sketch & mess it up 😂 because I'm afraid it's not clear. So I start adding stuff back in or changing the sketch: 📝"values" in my head was a pink wool hat in honour of the women's marches. But did it even look like a hat? I needed a head to make it a hat. Then I wondered if the marches were as big a reference for others as they are for me. Add a sign, make it obvious. 📝"essence" was a drop. But that's any liquid... So a dropper was needed, if only I could have drawn a decent one! Finally I switched to chemistry class... 📝"doll" was easy peasy... until I realised it also looked like a girl. So I added an etiquette. Did that look like a girl with a price tag?!?!😱 I hadn't thought of drawing stitches on my cloth doll 🤔 The solution: buttons for the eyes.😍 I liked the original drawing, but sketchnoting is about communication, so clarity over prettiness.👍😌 .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #TribuVisualThinking #latribusemueve #1sketchaday #visualthinking #sketchnotechallenge #creativity #practice #visualvocabulary ⠀⠀⠀
