However, as I have spent more time playing with kids lately, I have remembered that it is not so much about the toys. The lid of a jar, a piece of Lego, a toothbrush and a ball can easily become a pirate ship. How the surface we DON'T draw on can have such an influence over the whole piece is amazing! I've heard other sketchnoters, calligraphers, watercolour artists and even interior designers talk about it, yet I'm still trying to grasp how it works. February sketchnote challenge 18. word: hope .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Drawing abstract concepts is difficult. I find the best way to approach this is by drawing an example. If you can find an universally relatable one, even better! .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When I was thinking about how to draw "hope" one image kept coming back to my mind. There's this incredible painting in the Louvre called the The Raft of the Medusa by Theodore Gericault. Every human expression you can think of is on it. I remember being amazed by the light, the composition, the face of the man in the white shirt pointing at the horizon... .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And here I am now, butchering the masterpiece!! 💃😂 Any castaway on an island and a ship on the horizon would have done the job, but I was so impressed by the painting I wanted to do a stick figure homage 💙 ⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #TribuVisualThinking #latribusemueve #1sketchaday #visualthinking #sketchnotechallenge #creativity #practice #visualvocabulary ⠀⠀⠀
