It happened when I was looking for Christmas gift ideas back in December, and I thought of maybe purchasing something for myself. I was browsing through Google for eco-friendly clothing and accessories, when Blue Planet Eyewear popped out as one of the search choices. Intrigued, I clicked on their site link and browsed through their website. And almost immediately, I was impressed. 

Quoting their website, they “offer a wide range of polarized sun glasses that don’t just look great, they’re environmentally friendly too”. And browsing through their products, I got even more impressed. They have a wide range of sunnies and readers to choose from, and all very stylish and fashionable too. Their frames made from either repurposed plastics and metals, and the temples come from either recycled plastic or natural wood or bamboo. Plus, their tinted lens have polarizing filters for added glare reduction, as well as UVA and UVB protection. 

When it comes to their price range, they offer a wide range of prices, from affordable to pricey. And if you’re from the Philippines like me, don’t be surprised to find the prices in US dollars! But don’t let it deter you. I’m telling you right now that it’s all worth it!

Browsing their website more, I stumbled upon their page on the Visualize Change Program. From there, I read that for every purchase of sunnies or readers you make, they automatically donate one pair of glasses to a visually impaired person through their partner humanitarian organizations (SEE International, Feed the Children, Direct Relief, and Best Day Foundation). In fact, as of recently, they have already donated more than 750,000 pairs of glasses to adults and children around the world who are visually impaired. So far, everything I’ve seen has been great. It’s stylish. It’s eco-friendly. And you get to help other people with your purchase. What’s not to like about that?

So, without any hesitations, I placed an order with them. And I was really excited to receive the package soon. If you live outside of the United States, expect shipping to take some time, as their standard time of shipping internationally takes around 2 weeks. Also add in time their with your country’s customs checking, as packages may sometimes be delayed in their deliveries because of that. 

As soon as I got the pair I ordered, I was excited and very much impressed. They were sturdy and they even came with their own pouch and cleaning cloth. I immediately tried it on and yes, the lens were indeed polarized so you can comfortably use them without hurting your eyes from too much glare. I immediately fell in love with them, and now have it with me wherever I go -- whether just casually strolling through the city streets, or taking a day off at the beach.
